Special Leprosy Awareness Programme by Chennai Math

Chennai Math conducted two special programmes for Leprosy Cured but Deformed Persons (LCDP) on April 21, 2017.

1. Camp to enrol the LCDPs for Unique Disability Identity Card – 80 persons benefitted.

2. To discuss and redress the problems of LCDPs like stigma.

Dr. Kamalesh Kumar Pandey, Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities and Sri Srivatsava, Member Secretary of Rehabilitation Council of India participated and 7 Service Organizations participated. Two lawyers explained the impact of the current Act and the ways to seek remedies. Ten LCDPs affected by stigma also participated.

A Special Awareness Programme for Leprosy Cured but Deformed Persons (LCDPs) and their family members was conducted on 26th April. 120 persons participated. Officials from the Micro Small & Medium Enterprises explained various scheme to avail of loans and become self-reliance. Sri Mohan Piyare, Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner of Indian Medicine & Homeopathy and Sri Vikram Simha Rao, Director, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of India participated.

180 persons cutting across religions performed Deepa Puja. Revered Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj blessed the participants.
