A Brief Report of Recent Relief Services as on 1 April 2018

 

WINTER RELIEF

A total of 59,098 blankets and 2,27,429 winter garments are being distributed by 102 of our centres, among poor people affected by winter, flood, fire etc. in different parts of the country. 

FLOOD RELIEF

West Bengal: Belgharia centre distributed 1200 blankets, 540 jackets and 500 saris from 1 November to 1 March among 1200 flood-affected families in 15 villages of Daspur and West Medinipur districts. Jalpaiguri centre distributed 300 blankets among 300 flood-affected families on 2 December in 6 villages of North Dinajpur and Jalpaiguri districts.

FIRE RELIEF 

(a) Arunachal Pradesh: In response to an accidental fire which destroyed a house, Aalo centre distributed 9 blankets, a set of utensils (containing a karahi, a pot, a kettle, a bucket, 4 plates, 4 bowls, a ladle, a jug, a tumbler and a mug), and 4 tops, 2 t-shirts, 5 jackets, 7 trousers, 2 sweaters to a family and stationaries (notebooks, pen, pencils etc.) to 2 students in Eyi village of West Siang district on 11 March.

 

(b) Odisha: In the aftermath of a tragic fire in Palputa village in Cuttack district on 8 December in which 20 houses were burned down, Bhubaneswar centre distributed 100 blankets and 1000 saris among 113 affected families from 1 to 5 January. 

DISTRESS RELIEF 

(a) In the current year (2017-18), new garments donated to us by ITC Ltd. were distributed among the poor and needy under the Garments Distribution Programme. ITC Ltd. has donated nearly 4.17 lakh garments and 0.65 lakh other items (2,59,132 shirts/T-shirts, 1,58,172 trousers, 41,393 belts/wallets, 941 school bags, 1000 pairs of socks and 11,262 shoes) to 87 of our branch centres. Distribution is underway. 

 

(b) To extend a helping hand to poor and needy people, 44 of our centres in different parts of the country have distributed 4045 dhotis, 1100 kurtas, 105 uttariyas, 4 lungis, 49,760 shirts/T-shirts, 31,011 trousers, 4654 other gents garments, 8869 saris, 26,912 tops, 121 jumpsuits, 18 kaptans, 4 tunics, 6210 leggings, 3444 other ladies garments, 116 assorted garments, 134 children’s garments, 7132 belts/wallets, 47 towels, 2 than (bundles of cloth), 6 pairs of shoes, 4069 school bags, 295 mosquito-nets, 1 lakh halogen tablets, 367 kg nutrimix,  734 utensils,  1468 bars of bathing soap, 2050 notebooks and 416 text books among poor and needy people during the month of March.

ECONOMIC REHABILITATION

Khetri centre handed over 114 sewing machines for the benefit of needy people on 9 December.
