In commemoration of 150th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Sister Nivedita, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati observed the inaugural function on 28th Oct 2017.Around 200 students and teachers from various schools, participated in this function . Dr. Dhiresh Narayan Chowdhury (Retd.Justice, Gauhati High Court) hoisted the Flag designed by Sister Nivedita. National Song was sung by the children of Vivekananda Kalyan Kendra, Guwahati and patriotic song was sung by students of Aurobinda Vidyamandir, Ulubari, Guwahati.
In this connection a meeting was held at Vivekananda Hall of our ashrama. In this meeting students of various schools spoke on Sister Nivedita & they also sang patriotic songs . The meeting was presided over by Dr. Dhiresh Narayan Chowdhury (Retd.Justice, Gauhati High Court) . Renowned speakers spoke on the life,teachings and on her contributions for all round development of our country.
In the evening season, the proceedings started at 4.00 P.M. with the vaidic chanting by the student of our Student Home . Different branches of Sarada Sangha of Guwahati performed devotional songs as well as spoke on Nivedita . Guest speaker Dr. Kaberi Saha, (Lecturer of Gauhati University) delivered her speech on the life of teachings of sister Nivedita.
