Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Hatamuniguda celebrated the 125th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago Addresses on 11 September 2018 with great pride and enthusiasm.
The celebrations started with the blowing of conch shells followed by Vedic invocations and offering of flower at the feet of Swami Vivekananda’s Statue at 3.30 pm.
A public meeting was held in the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama School at 4 pm. The meeting started with the lighting of lamp and offering of flowers to Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda’s portraits. Dr Baburao Mahanti, Headmaster, GBM High School, Rayagada was the chief guest in the function. Swami Prabhuvarananda, Swami Pujananda and Sri Ranganath Banerjee, Principal of the School discoursed on the significance of the day and importance of the celebration. Teachers and two students also addressed the gathering. Swami Vivekananda’s “Response to Welcome” at the World’s Parliament of Religions was read out in English. Around 700 people comprising mostly the students, teachers and other distinguished persons attended the programme. A few devotional songs were also presented.
