The Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Historic Speeches at Chicago was grandly celebrated in Madurai Ramakrishna Math.
The Programme was held in the Math campus. More than 2000 participants including 1912 students from 19 colleges together with staffs and devotees, attended the function.The Programme was started with prayer at 10:00 am and closed at 1:15 pm.
Swami Kamalatmananda, Swami Tatprabhananda, and eminent speakers like Stalin Gunasekaran, Dr. Sabra Begum, and Dr. D.A. Joseph Iyengar spoke on the occasion.
A certificate and a book of Swamiji’s sayings were issued to all students participated. A printed book (16 pages) containing the condensed six speeches of Swami Vivekananda at the World Parliament of Religion with a brief information about Swamiji’s appearance at World Parliament of Religion was given to all those present. The same book was distributed to 6000 students of near by schools in Madurai.
8 Tamil TV Channels and All India Radio broadcasted the programme.
