Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narayanpur celebrated the 125th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic Chicago Addresses by organizing an event on 11 September 2018.
At 2:30 pm enthusiastic applauding, colorful procession with a chariot carrying the portrait of Swami Vivekananda started with Arati and floral offerings to Swami Vivekananda in front of the Temple.
All the 1500 children, 1000 employees and the members of about 150 families residing in the campus participated in the procession. The Band team of the Ashrama School led the procession consisting of children dressed as Swami Vivekananda. Bhajan groups were singing the songs of Swami Vivekananda with the accompaniment of various instruments. Children were reciting inspiring quotations of Swami Vivekananda. A kirtan group of children were singing kirtans accompanied by Shri Khol. The Chariot of Swami Vivekananda was pulled by all the Monks and students.
At 3:30 PM Conch shells were blown at the Main Temple, in the procession and by all the residents of the campus.
The procession circumambulated the complete premises of the Ashrama Campus, visiting all the departments of Ashrama, residential quarters of the staff and finally reached the Indoor Auditorium where a meeting of all the Monks, residents, employees, volunteers and guests was organized.
At 4:00 pm, the meeting started with devotional songs by the students. Then a student dressed like Swami Vivekananda recited the inspiring quotations from Swami Vivekananda’s Complete Works. Three students also spoke on Swami Vivekananda. Four teachers addressed the gathering besides monks and guests.
The program was concluded with a closing song at 6:30 pm.
