Ramakrishna Vivekananda Center of New York celebrated the 125th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago Addresses. Mr. Sandeep Chakraborty, Consul General of India, New York was the Special Guest Speaker for the occasion
On Sunday, 16 September 16 2018, the Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Center of New York held its opening service of the 2018-2019 season with a special service to commemorate the 125th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic addresses at the Chicago Parliament of the World’s Religions in 1893. The service began with the chanting of Vedic hymns and devotional songs by the Center’s choir, after which Swami Yuktatmananda, Spiritual leader of the Center, invoked the blessings of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother and Swami Vivekananda for the new season. Then, after some introductory remarks about Swami Vivekananda and the Parliament of Religions, the Swami introduced the special guest for the occasion, Mr. Sandeep Chakraborty, Consul General of India, New York. The consul presented a most insightful, scholarly and illuminating talk on the subject “Vivekananda, India’s Spiritual Ambassador to the West.”
