125th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago Addresses : Tamluk

On the occasion Of 125th anniversary of Chicago Addresses a youth conference was held in Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Tamluk. 464 persons including students and teachers from 10 schools, Coaching Centre and Vocational Training Centre of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Tamluk, guests, guardians, devotees and volunteers attended the programme on 15 September 2018.

The whole programme was organised in two phases.

Firstly, 10 schools were involved in the programme. A seminar was organised in each school with about 300 students. Swami Mahatapananda attended the seminars in schools and 300 books (ami ma sakaler ma) were distributed in each school among the students who attended the seminar.

In the second phase, the students and teachers from 10 schools attended the programme on 15 September 2018 in the Vivekananda Hall of the Sevashram. Students from the Coaching Centre and Vocational training centre of the Sevashram along with some guardians, devotees and well-wishers also attended the programme.

The programme started with Vedic chanting. Swami Shrutisarananda, Adhyaksha and Secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram, Tamluk welcomed everyone and highlighted on the importance of Chicago addresses delivered by Swami Vivekananda. Swami Dipteshananda, the Headmaster Of Ramakrishna Mission Sikshamandir, Sarisha, delivered his speech on the relevance Of Chicago Addresses in the present context. Sri Asis Kumar Patra, the ex-Headmaster of Chakdwipa High School, spoke on the background of Chicago addresses. Swami Mahatapananda explained the essence of Swami Vivekananda’s  lecture delivered on 27 September  1893.

Students from different schools participated in the programme. They recited poems and writings of Swami Vivekananda. They also sang songs and played musical instruments.
The programme came to an end with a vote of thanks to the chair by Swami Vinischayananda, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Tamluk. Students were given a book named Chicago Baktrita’.
