Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru organized a summer camp (Vasanta Vihara) from 23rd – 30th April 2023 in which 100 students of classes 8,9 and 10 participated consisting of 54 boys and 46 girls.
During this camp classes on Yogasana, Bhajans and gardening were held on a daily basis. Eminent orators including monastics delivered talks on various topics including life and teachings of Holy Trio, Stories from Mahabharata, Communication Skills, Awareness about snakes, ‘I am the architect of my own personality’ and ‘How to read newspaper’. Creative activities like doodling, craft and poster-making were conducted from which the participants benefited very much. Special sessions based on Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Vedic Math and Math activities were also held.
Breakfast and Juice refreshments were provided to all every day. A unique written quiz competition was conducted on the penultimate day in which the participants were asked questions based on what was taught for the entire week.
The camp concluded on 30th April. A unique event, Matrivandana, wherein each participant worshipped their mother, was held on the concluding day. Students displayed yogasanas, performed a short drama on the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and sang devotional songs.
Certificates of participation were given to all and prizes were awarded to the winners of the quiz and the best participants among boys and girls.
