Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad, organised a 2 day celebration of the National Youth Day on the 11th and 12th January 2024.
11 January 2024: A youth convention to discuss and think about the leadership lessons for the future-the Vivekananda way and Challenges and opportunities for civil services aspirants for rebuilding India in the lines of Swami Vivekananda was organised.Â
Sri A Sridhar Babu, IAS, Executive Director, Tobacco board, Government of India was the chief guest and Sri Sharad Vivek Sagar, Dexterity global, Patna was the guest speaker. Â
About 1200 students, youth and civil services aspirants attended the convention. A dance program by the students of Vivekananda Bala Vikas Kendra and a recitation skit on the teachings of Swamiji were presented. Â
12 January 2024: Garlanding of Swamiji’s statue on the Tank Bund in Hyderabad by Dr Sowmya Mishra, IPS, D G Prisons, Government of Telangana, monks of the Math and hundreds of youngsters. It was followed by an ‘Awakening India Walk’ by nearly 1000 students, teachers and devotees organised from Tank Bund to Math premises at 8.45am. Later a youth convention was held in the auditorium in the Math campus. About 1500 people participated in the convention on the theme ‘Channelizing youth power for nation building’.Â
Two great scientists spoke at the convention. Dr. TGK Murthy, our devotee and retired ISRO scientist and Dr Anil Bharadwaj from Ahamedabad who did research in Chandrayan 1,2 and 3, spoke on the space research going on India and how the youth can play a vital role in the next 25 years. Â
Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad honoured, recognised and appreciated the success of three young Indians who have achieved tremendous success in the following areas: Ms Poorna Malawath, Mountaineering; Ms Venella, Cycling and Mountaineering; and Sri Kashinath, Child labour eradication seva. It was a great inspiration to the young audience. Â
All the participants on both the days were given lunch prasad, a booklet and a participation certificate. Â
Nearly 5000 students from nearly 10 schools in different areas in the city offered their tribute to Swamiji in their respective schools under the guidance of Ramakrishna Math volunteers and organised processions in the locality of respective schools. This is the first time such a massive rally has happened on National Youth Day, across the city, thanks to the support and cooperation of all stakeholders.
