National Youth Day 2024 : Gourhati


The 40th ‘National Youth Day’ was celebrated at a time on the same podium in the afternoon on 12th January in 2024 in a grand style. The whole podium and its surroundings of the centre were decorated beautifully with the photos of Swami Vivekananda, his messages, festoons and flowers. It gave the ashrama a festive look.

The afternoon programme started at 4pm with Vedic chant done by a group of students of GAP. It was followed by the inaugural song sung in a chorus by some students. After this Swami Pranaramananda, Adhyaksha of Gourhati ashrama, gave a warm welcome to all the participating students.

Every student uttered Swamiji’s ‘Swadesh Mantra’ and a few students delivered their speeches on Swami Vivekananda, National Youth Day and on the role of the students to build in the vision and mission of Swami Vivekananda. Some students took part in recitation and some in singing.

Special guest, Sri Sisir Kumar Jana, a teacher advised the students to follow the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. Another guest speaker Sri Pranab Kumar Ghorui gives his short speech on how to build character. Then Adhyaksha Maharaj, Swami Pranaramananda gave an impressive speech about the importance of the day. He laid importance on building the strong character of the youths.

The closing song ‘Swamijir mantra mora bhulbo na’ was sung in chorus. The programme came to an end with Adhyaksha Maharaj’s vote of thanks to all. Total 100 youths participated in the programme. All were given a gift packet and a heavy tiffin.
