Governor’s Excellence Award | World Braille Day 2024 : Blind Boys’ Academy, Narendrapur


Governor’s Excellence Award 2024

Dr. C. V. Ananda Bose, Honourable Governor of West Bengal visited Ramakrishna Mission Blind Boys’ Academy, Narendrapur on 2nd January 2024. He went around the different wings, especially the Braille Press of the academy, and took lunch with the students of the academy. A group photo was taken in front of Sri Ram Bhawan with all the students, staff and other monastic members. He gave Rs.1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh) as the prize-money for the welfare of the Blind Boys’ Academy and conferred the ‘Governor’s Excellence Award ’ to the Blind Boys’ Academy. 

World Braille Day : 4 January 2024

The Blind Boys’ Academy in collaboration with the Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal observed World Braille Day on 4th January 2024.  Dr. Smt. Shashi Panja, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Department of Women & Child Development & Social Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal was present as a Chief Guest & also delivered an inspiring speech on that occasion.  Some blind schools like Calcutta Blind School, Voice of World, Blind Boys’ Academy and others participated in the programme. A braille competition was organised by the academy. Miss. Nilanjana Dasgupta, IAS, State Commissioner (Disabilities), Govt. of West Bengal delivered the vote of thanks and the programme was terminated with the closing song performed by the students of the Blind Boys’ Academy. After the programme, all staff members & other guests took prasad in the academy hostel.
