Ramakrishna Math acquired the sacred and historic “Alambazar Math” premises in Alambazar, Kolkata, last year. Alambazar Math served as the second monastery of the Ramakrishna Order where Swami Vivekananda and other monastic disciples of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna Dev lived from February 1892 to February 1898.
In place of the old and dilapidated building on the premises, a new memorial building will be constructed.
Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, Vice-President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, laid the foundation stone for the proposed building on Thursday, 1 February 2024.
