Cleaning Campaign after Annual Festival of Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple, Chennai

The usual 10 days Annual Festival of Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple was held from 2 to 11 April 2017. The main events which attract more than lakh of devotees are the Car Festival (7th day) and the procession of the idols of 63 Saivite Saints (8th day). After these events, waste is strewn all around the area including our road resulting in accumulation of huge piles of garbage.

The Chennai Math took up the mammoth task of cleaning the 4 streets around the Kapaleeswarar Temple and the surrounding areas.

The Monks, Brahmacharins and about 40 volunteers of the Math took part in this cleaning campaign from 10.00 pm on 9th April to 12.00 midnight.

The Math also distributed butter milk and Sherbat to more than 22,000 people on these 2 days.
