Cyclone Relief

Tamil Nadu: In continuation of its relief operations among the people affected by Cyclone Michaung in December, Chennai Students’ Home distributed 1100 kg rice, 240 kg wheat flour, 60 kg pulses, 40 litres cooking oil, 20 kg assorted spices, 20 kg tamarind, 40 kg salt and 40 kg sugar among 215 families in Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram districts from 21 December to 5 January.


Flood Relief

Sri Lanka: In the wake of the floods caused by heavy rains in Vivekanandapuram, Batticaloa, towards the end of 2023, Batticaloa sub-centre of Colombo Ashrama served meals to 150 people from 2 to 9 January.


Disturbance Relief

Manipur: Continuing its relief operations among the victims of ethnic clashes which began in May, Imphal centre distributed the following items from 1 to 26 February in 11 relief camps and other areas among 362 families from Kakching and Bishnupur districts: 10 kg chira (rice flakes), 10 kg semolina, 53 kg pulses, 15 kg soya chunks, 12 litres cooking oil, 16 kg assorted spices, 1800 packets of biscuits, 4 kg Horlicks, 11 kg infant milk, 42 kg milk powder, 50 kg sugar, 60 steel plates, 216 tubes of toothpaste, 120 toothbrushes, 60 bottles of hair oil, 332 bars of bathing soap, 9 kg detergent powder, 21 dhotis, 375 pairs of socks, 356 thermal uppers, 120 thermal trousers, 21 shawls and 50 blankets.

  • Chennai Students’ Home: 40 trunks, 40 sets of utensils (each set containing 10 pots with lids, 10 plates, 3 ladles, 5 tumblers, 2 jugs and 2 water pots), 160 baskets, 40 stoves, 40 oil lamps, 80 mats, 160 bedsheets, 80 sets of pillow & cover, and 40 solar lanterns from 12 October to 17 February.
  • Cooch Behar: 14 saris and 100 mosquito nets on 12 March.
  • Digboi: 144 saris and 134 dhotis from 17 February to 24 March.
  • Indore: 130 tiffin carriers, 34 water bottles and 9 pairs of shoes and socks from 28 July to 5 December.
  • Kalyani: 180 meals, 1768 kg rice, 436 kg puffed rice, 212 kg pulses, 207 kg soya chunks, 871 kg potatoes, 46 litres cooking oil, 13 kg turmeric powder, 160 kg salt, 23 kg tea powder, 138 packets of biscuits, 26 kg nutritional powder, 675 saris, 41 dhotis, 245 bottles of hair oil and 197 bars of bathing soap from 16 July to 17 March.
  • Kamarpukur: 2900 saris and 500 lungis on 14 March.
  • Koyilandy: 120 saris and 120 lungis on 24 February and 12 March.
  • Muzaffarpur: 500 saris and 500 dhotis from 31 December to 17 March.
  • Nagpur: 136 meals, 124 saris, 12 dhotis, 136 towels, 136 bottles of hair oil and 136 bars of bathing soap on 18 March.
  • Naora: 65 tarpaulins on 23 March.
  • Prayagraj: 128 children’s garments on 14 March.
  • Puri Math: 600 saris from 20 November to 29 March.
  • Rahara, Kolkata: 504 saris, 27 dhotis, 10 shirts, 27 trousers, 10 frocks and 209 mosquito nets from 6 January to 29 February.
  • Rajamahendravaram: 400 kg semolina, 200 kg wheat flour, 400 kg pulses, 200 litres cooking oil, 200 kg sugar, 40 kg tea powder, 200 saris and 200 shirts on 12 and 24 March.
  • Salem: 295 tiffin carriers on 13 March.
  • Sikra Kulingram: 200 lungis from 25 September to 4 November.
  • Thanjavur: 30 pens, 30 pencils, 30 rulers and 30 geometry boxes on 29 February.

Bangladesh:

  • Bagerhat: 100 saris and 25 lungis on 26 March.

South Africa:

Distress Rehabilitation

GujaratVadodara centre renovated the prayer hall roof of a school in Ahmedabad.  The renovated prayer hall was inaugurated on 20 January.


Economic Rehabilitation

AssamGuwahati centre handed over 11 sewing machines and 10 handloom machines (tantsals) to needy women on 17 March.


Infrastructural Support

Madhya PradeshIndore centre distributed 25 sets of tables and benches, 305 desks, 2 noticeboards, 6 almirahs, and 31 sets of kitchen utensils (each set containing 25 plates, 1 kadai, 1 pot, 2 pans and 2 serving spoons) among 16 schools in Khargone district from 8 July to 5 December.
