Spiritual Retreat: Contai, July 2024

Ramakrishna Math, Contai, West Bengal


On the holy occasion of Guru Purnima on July 21st, 2024, Ramakrishna Math and Mission Sevashrama, Contai organized a one-day Spiritual Retreat for devotees. Over 425 devotees participated in the retreat.

The program began with Vedic chanting, followed by guided meditation, flower offerings to the Holy Trio (Ramakrishna, Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda), chanting of the Sri Ramakrishna Astottara Shatanama (108 names of Sri Ramakrishna), readings from scriptures, lectures, a question-and-answer session, Japa Yajna, Shyam Naam Sankirtan, and chorus bhajans.

Swami Mayadhishananda spoke about the need for a Devotees’ Conference in his welcome speech, hinting at future events that would foster deeper connections within the community. Swami Ekavratananda, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Calcutta Students’ Home, Belgharia, and Swami Krishnanathananda of Ramakrishna Math, Baghbazar (Udbodhan) delivered insightful talks. Their discourses explored the profound significance of Gurus in one’s spiritual journey and emphasized the ultimate goal of human life: God realization.

All devotees were treated to a delicious tiffin and noon prasad. The afternoon offered a chance for personal reflection as devotees delved into the inspiring lives and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda.

The day culminated in a chorus of joyful bhajans, where the spirit of devotion and camaraderie filled the air. The retreat concluded with a renewed sense of spiritual connection for all participants, leaving a lasting impression on their hearts.
