Ramakrishna Mission, Kalyani, celebrated independence Day with a day-long program on August 15, 2024. The morning commenced with a flag-hoisting ceremony at 8:30 AM, followed by cultural performances by students from nearby schools.
The highlight of the day was a Youth Convention themed “Amar Bharat Amor Bharat” held in the afternoon. Over 320 students from 20 educational institutions gathered at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium. The event was graced by the presence of Swami Vidyanathananda (Mahan Maharaj) as the chief guest and Swami Sevaparananda as a special guest.
The convention commenced with Vedic chants and a quiz on Indian heritage. Top performers were awarded for their knowledge. The Ashrama Secretary emphasized the significance of understanding India’s glorious past for its future development.
Students presented patriotic songs, recitations, and speeches. Swami Sevaparananda delivered a discourse on “Swadesh Mantra,” followed by a guided recitation. Swami Vidyanathananda inspired the youth with Swami Vivekananda’s teachings, particularly on fearlessness. A presentation on India’s cultural heritage was delivered by Br. Rajib.
The event concluded with peace chants at 5:30 PM. The program received extensive media coverage from All India Radio and newspapers like Ananda Bazar Patrika.
