Report on the Prize Distribution Ceremony and Youth Convention
The Ramakrishna Mission, Jhargram, organized a youth convention on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, to commemorate Swami Vivekananda’s historic speech at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago. Approximately 350 participants, including students and teachers from 40 educational institutions in and around Jhargram town, attended the event.
Swami Vedatitanandaji, Correspondent of Ramakrishna Mission Shilpamandira, presided over the convention, and Swami Divyanisthanandaji, Headmaster of Ramharipur Ramakrishna Mission High School, was the chief guest. All participants received a book on Swami Vivekananda and were provided with a sumptuous meal at the end of the program.
The prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the Swami Vivekananda Jhargram District Level School Cultural Competition – 2024 (3rd Year) was also held on this occasion.
Details of the Cultural Competitions:
A district-level cultural competition was organized for the third year, encompassing all eight blocks and one municipality area of the Jhargram district from August 12 to August 30, 2024. The competitions were held in 11 venues across the district.
The following competitions were conducted:
- Essay Competition on “Swami Vivekananda for building an ideal student life” (for students of classes IX to XII)
- Painting Competition on “Swami Vivekananda in Meditation” (for students of classes V to VIII)
- Poetry Writing Competition on “Balak Bile” (for students of classes V to VIII)
- Elocution Competition on “Swami Vivekananda as a Poet” (for students of classes IX to XII)
- Quiz Competition on the ‘ Life of Swami Vivekananda’ (for students of classes IX to XII)
A total of 1304 students from 88 schools participated in the competitions, including 638 boys and 666 girls. All participants received participation certificates and a book on Swami Vivekananda.
Prize Distribution Ceremony:
The prize distribution ceremony took place at the Maa Sarada Sabhangan, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandir (E.M.R.S.), Jhargram, on September 11, 2024. Swami Vedatitanandaji, Swami Divyanisthanandaji, and other dignitaries awarded prizes to the top 5 winners in each competition, except for the Quiz competition. The winners and runners-up of the Quiz competition were awarded trophies. A total of 29 students from 19 schools secured various positions in these competitions.
