A Vibrant Celebration of Kerala’s State Festival
The Onam festival, a vibrant celebration marking Kerala’s state festival, was held with great enthusiasm at the Sri Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Kalady. This ancient and revered ashrama, known for its spiritual and educational endeavors, provided a fitting backdrop for the festivities.

A Week of Cultural and Traditional Activities
The Onam celebrations at the Ashrama spanned a week, from 6th to 15th September 2024. Various educational institutions under the Ashrama, including Brahmanandodayam schools and the Vivekananda Computer Centre, participated in the festivities.
Intricate Floral Designs and Traditional Performances
One of the highlights of the celebrations was the creation of intricate floral designs, known as Pookalam. Students and teachers collaborated to design and arrange these colorful patterns, which were prominently displayed at each institution. Traditional Thiruvathira songs and dance performances were also held, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Kerala.
Fun-filled Games and Community Building
To foster a sense of community and enjoyment, various fun-filled games were organized. These activities provided a platform for participants to interact, bond, and celebrate together.

Guidance and Encouragement from Spiritual Leaders
Swami Srividyananda, School Manager cum Adhyaksha, and all monastic members of the Ashrama graced the occasion with their presence. Their guidance and encouragement were instrumental in ensuring that the celebrations were conducted in accordance with traditional customs and values.
