Bhakta Sammelan: Siliguri, September 2024

Ramakrishna Mission, Siliguri, West Bengal


A day-long Bhakta Sammelan was organised on Sunday, 29th September 2024 at Ramakrishna Mission, Siliguri, attended by 150 devotees and well-wishers.

The sammelan started with Vedic Mantras chanted by the monks, followed by a keynote address delivered by Swami Vishwadharananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Siliguri. Collective recitation from the 12th chapter of the Gita – Bhaktiyoga was led by Swami Abhayadananda. Swami Shivapremananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jalpaiguri, guided the assembled devotees through meditation followed by Japa. Swami Nareshananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Sahudangi, read the Kathamrita and discussed its significance. This was followed by devotional songs led by Swami Jivanananda from Ramakrishna Mission, Sahudangi. Swami Vishwadharananda, read from the life of Sri Maa Sarada Devi – on Devi Bodhan.

The second session began with Mahishasuramardini Stotra led by Sri Devapriya Sarkar, Manager, Punjab National Bank, Siliguri. The importance and meaning of Durga Puja were discussed by Swami Nareshananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Sahudangi and Swami Mahatapananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Nivedita Educational and Cultural Centre, Darjeeling.

After a sumptuous lunch, the devotees gathered to listen to devotional songs by Sri Supriya Saha and team, Siliguri. Swami Mahatapananda, discussed on Swamiji’s Janto Durga. Swami Gaurangananda, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Mekhligunj, soulful rendition of songs on Holy Mother, helped the devotees understand the importance of devotion in our daily life.

The day came to an end with collective singing of ‘Ramakrishna Saranam’ by the devotees led by Swami Jivanananda.
