The 18th SAIL KHEL MELA 2024 was held from 23rd to 28th October 2024 at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narainpur, in collaboration with Bhilai Steel Plant, Bhilai. The event saw the participation of 1500 tribal students, including 300 girls, from 39 schools across the Koilibeda, Antagarh, Orchha, and Narainpur blocks. These students competed in various sports events such as Football, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Badminton, Athletics, Archery, and more. A total of 1200 resident participants were accommodated at the Ashrama campus for six days, while the remaining 300 participants were non-residential.
The inauguration ceremony, held on 24th October 2024 at 10:00 AM, was graced by Sri Tank Ram Verma, Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare of Chhattisgarh, as the Chief Guest. Sri Anirban Dasgupta, Director-In-Charge of Bhilai Steel Plant, Bhilai, presided over the event.
The closing and prize distribution ceremony took place on 27th October 2024. Swami Sarvalokananda ji, Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi was the Chief Guest, and Sri Utpal Datta, Chief General Manager (CGM & TSD) of Bhilai Steel Plant, Bhilai, was the Special Guest for the occasion.
