Personalia

Revered President Maharaj will be visiting Mumbai, Rajkot, Limbdi, Vadodara and Ahmedabad from 1 to 10 December, Belgharia on 24 December, and Narendrapur from 27 to 29 December.

Swami Suhitanandaji is scheduled to visit Goa, Belagavi, Kolhapur and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) from 4 to 17 December. Subsequently, he will visit Visakhapatnam, Rajamahendravaram and Vijayawada from 25 December to 8 January.

Swami Bhajananandaji is at Belur Math.

Swami Girishanandaji will return to Belur Math on 13 December after his visit to Durgapur. He will then visit Balurghat and Malda from 23 to 30 December.

Swami Divyanandaji is scheduled to visit Jorhat, Bokakhat and Golaghat in Assam from 1 to 6 December, Nimpith from 11 to 14 December, Sehara Bazar (West Bengal) on 18 and 19 December, and Malda on 25 and 26 December.

Swami Vimalatmanandaji will visit Guwahati, Itanagar, Lumdung and Tezpur (Assam) from 5 to 18 December, and Varanasi from 24 to 27 December.

All of them are keeping well.

News of Branch Centres in India

Ramakrishna Math, Pathanamthitta, which was so long a sub-centre of Thiruvalla branch, is upgraded to the status of a full-fledged branch centre.

A new Mission centre has been started in Sarati, West Bengal, following the taking over of Sri Ramkrishna Chandramoni Sevashram, Sarati, in October. The house of the maternal grandfather of Sri Ramakrishna was located in Sarati village.

The Sevashram was founded in 1992.


A sub-centre of Thiruvananthapuram branch was formally inaugurated at Mavelikara in Dist. Alappuzha, Kerala, on 10 November, the day of Jagaddhatri Puja. In this connection, special worship, homa and a public meeting were held.

News of Branch Centres in India

The boys’ school of Sarisha centre celebrated its centenary (1923 – 2023) from 29 September to 3 October.

Narainpur centre held a sports meet from 23 to 28 October, in association with another establishment, in which 1500 students from 39 schools in Chhattisgarh participated.


Turiyananda Taposthali in Almora

Swami Suhitanandaji dedicated the renovated Ram Maharaj Smriti Bhavan at Almora centre on 3 November. The building has guest rooms, a kitchen, a dining hall and an office. He also inaugurated (i) the restored Turiyananda Taposthali in Almora, a 200-year-old building replete with the sacred memories of Swami Turiyanandaji Maharaj and Swami Shivanandaji Maharaj, and (ii) a statue of Swamiji at the sacred Kakrighat where Swamiji had a profound realization on the relation between the microcosm and the macrocosm.


Swami Suhitanandaji inaugurated the conference hall at Gurugram centre’s retreat in Jaulangi, Uttarakhand, on 8 November.

Revered President Maharaj opened the following at Jayrambati centre: (i) a showroom for books and Pallimangal products on 10 November, and (ii) a prayer hall at the boys’ high school building on 12 November.


Revered President Maharaj dedicated Swami Bhuteshananda Smarak Bhavan at Somsar centre on 13 November, the sacred birthday of Swami Subodhanandaji Maharaj. The new building has a book showroom, a kitchen and a dining hall.


Inauguration of Computer Centre: Dakshineswar

Revered President Maharaj inaugurated a computer centre at Dakshineshwar Math on  14 November, the sacred birthday of Swami Vijnananandaji Maharaj.


Kanpur ashrama launched its year-long centenary celebrations on 14 November with special worship, bhajans and a public meeting.


The renovated kitchen at Purulia centre was opened on 17 November.


On the hospital premises of Ponnampet ashrama, a new building with a pharmacy, pathology lab, dental clinic and a bookstore was dedicated on 18 November.


The newly built second floor of Premananda Bhavan (guest house) and the registration hall of the out-patient department (OPD) at Vrindavan centre were opened on 19 November. Swami Suhitanandaji presided over the inauguration ceremony.


Revered President Maharaj opened the two-storey extension to the dispensary building at Kalyani centre on 25 November.


A new building at Aalo centre, with an office and monks’ quarters, was virtually inaugurated by Revered President Maharaj on 26 November.


Sargachhi ashrama’s Dhanya Ganga Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) received the Outstanding KVK Award at the national level from Outlook Group, a publishing house. Sri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, presented a certificate to the ashrama on 9 September at a programme held in Delhi.

A student of Blind Boys’ Academy (BBA) at Narendrapur ashrama received the All India Trade Test (AITT) Topper Award, from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, at a programme in Delhi on 26 October. Another student of BBA secured a gold medal at the National Youth Para Judo Championship held in Lucknow on 26 and 27 October.


Our Jhargram school secured 19 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze medals and won the champion title in the Inter-EMRS (Ekalavya Model Residential School) state-level sports meet held in Kolkata on 26 November.


The under-17 boys’ kho-kho team of Narainpur school won the State Level Kho-Kho Championship conducted by Chhattisgarh Amateur Kho Kho Association from 5 to 7 November.


Our school in Viveknagar, Agartala, has been ranked 22nd among the best day schools in India by Education World, an education news magazine.

Students of the school won the first and second prizes in the regional level (northeastern region) National Group Song Competition conducted by Bharat Vikas Parishad on 17 November.

Values Education and Youth Programmes

The following centres held programmes mentioned against their names:

Aalo: Eleven painting, quiz and sports competitions in nearby schools from 24 October to 9 November, in which a total of 230 students were in attendance.


Basavanagudi, Bengaluru: A workshop on stress management in a local college on 23 November; 200 students took part.


Dhaleswar, Agartala: Two values education programmes for students on 24 and 27 November in which a total of 350 students from nearby colleges took part.


Garbeta: A day-long youths’ convention on 18 November in which 120 youths took part.

Gurugram: (i) Thirty-three workshops for teachers and professors on values education in different parts of the country from 30 September to 23 November, attended by 1576 participants in all. (ii) Seventeen online values education programmes for teachers from 28 September to 23 November, in which altogether 631 teachers took part. (iii) A training programme for professors on 19 October in which 22 professors participated. (iv) A drug awareness workshop on 13 November in which 65 students were in attendance.


Jalpaiguri: A personality development workshop on 17 November in which 80 students participated.


Jammu: A youths’ convention on 23 November in which 250 students from 26 schools took part.


Kamarpukur: Two values education classes on 8 and 21 November in which a total of 50 youths were in attendance.


Raipur: Five personality development camps at various schools in Bhilai and Raipur districts from 24 October to 26 November, attended by 683 students and 182 teachers in all.


Rajamahendravaram: Ten values education programmes at the ashrama and various educational institutions from 29 October to 27 November, in which a total of 1740 students were in attendance.


Rajkot: A two-day residential youths’ camp on 26 and 27 October in which 29 students took part.


Rourkela: Essay-writing and recitation competitions on 17 November in which 50 school students participated.


Salem: Eleven personality development classes at various local schools from 23 August to 24 October in which a total of 1033 students participated.


Thanjavur: Five values education programmes for students from 27 September to 25 November in which a total of 467 students took part.


Viveknagar, Agartala: (i) Two teachers’ conventions on 28 and 30 September, which were attended by 361 teachers in all. (ii) An awareness programme on artificial intelligence on 5 October in which 150 youths were in attendance.


Vrindavan: A youths’ convention on 18 November in which 414 students and 36 teachers from 21 educational institutions participated.


Yadadri Bhuvanagiri: A values education programme at a nearby place on 3 November in which 60 students took part.


Eye Camps and other Healthcare Services

The following centres conducted medical camps. A summary of the services provided by them is given below.

India:

Bankura: Eye camps from 29 September to 27 November in which a total of 826 eye patients were screened, 125 were operated on and 78 were given spectacles.


Chennai Math: (i) An eye camp at Chengam, with the help of Chengam centre, on 2 November in which 290 patients were screened; subsequently, 69 were admitted to a hospital in Puducherry for surgery. (ii) An eye camp at Neelamangalam village in Chengalpattu district, with the help of Chengalpattu centre, on 24 November in which 49 patients were checked, 22 were given spectacles and 8 were admitted to an eye hospital in Chennai for surgery.


Coimbatore Mission: Six medical camps (1 eye, 1 ENT, 1 orthopaedic and 3 general camps) in and around Coimbatore from 27 October to 24 November, in which 413 patients were treated in total.


Cuttack: An eye camp on 23 November: 57 patients were screened and 14 were given spectacles.


Digboi: Two medical camps on 20 October and 17 November, in which altogether 42 patients were treated.


Gurap: An eye camp on 12 November in which 63 patients were checked; subsequently, 22 of them underwent cataract surgery at an eye hospital.


Gurugram: An eye camp at the ashrama’s retreat in Jaulangi, Uttarakhand, on 18 November where 65 patients were screened; 4 of them underwent cataract surgery at our eye hospital in Dehradun.


Jammu: (i) A health camp on 19 October in which 307 patients were treated. (ii) An ayurvedic medical camp on 28 October in which 130 students and teachers from a local school were treated. (iii) a medical camp on 12 November by which 266 patients were benefitted. (iv) An eye camp on 20 November: 8 patients were screened who subsequently underwent cataract surgery at a local hospital.


Jamshedpur: Three eye camps from 27 September to 20 October at different places in which a total of 124 patients were screened; 54 of them underwent cataract surgery at a local eye hospital.


Koyilandy: A health awareness camp on 9 November in which 73 persons participated.


Lucknow: 4753 eye patients were checked and 356 were operated on and given spectacles in October.


Madurai: (i) A half-day adolescent health programme on 9 November, which was attended by 316 parents and teachers from local schools. (ii) An eye camp on 17 November: 165 patients were checked; subsequently, 34 underwent cataract surgery in an eye hospital, and 24 were given spectacles. (iii) A diabetes check-up camp on 17 November in which 135 patients were screened.


Manasadwip: (i) Conducted two eye camps in October and November in which a total of 319 patients were treated. (ii) Arranged cataract surgery for 71 patients in October and November in association with another institution.


Medinipur: Two medical camps at Ramgarh and Goal Danga in Paschim Medinipur district on 2 and 9 November respectively, in which altogether 625 patients were treated.


Nattarampalli: An eye camp on 17 November: 228 patients were checked; subsequently, 55 underwent cataract surgery in an eye hospital and 62 were given spectacles.


Rajamahendravaram: An epilepsy camp on 10 November in which 605 patients were treated.


Rajkot: A medical camp at Oliya in Amreli district on 10 November in which 91 patients were treated.

Salem: (i) Two medical camps at nearby areas on 3 and 17 November in which a total of  326 patients were treated. (ii) An eye camp on 17 November in which 70 patients were checked; subsequently, 16 underwent cataract surgery in an eye hospital, and 17 were given spectacles.

Seva Pratishthan, Kolkata: A medical camp at Dankuni in Hooghly district in collaboration with another institute on 27 October, where 71 female patients were treated.

Thanjavur: (i) Two general medical camps at the ashrama’s rural centre on 20 October and 17 November in which altogether 70 patients were treated. (ii) A dental camp on 12 November at a local government school for the visually impaired, in which 149 students and teachers were checked.


Thirumukkudal: An eye camp in association with an eye hospital of Chennai at Arumbuliyur village on 3 November where 96 patients were screened; subsequently, 42 were given spectacles and 9 patients were referred for cataract surgery.

Outside India:

Batticaloa (a sub-centre of Colombo branch), Sri Lanka: Medical camps at Kiran, Sittandy and Kudumimalai in November in which altogether 760 patients received medical aid.
