The first-ever World Meditation Day, declared by the United Nations General Assembly on November 29, 2024, was celebrated at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi, Ranchi on December 21, 2024.
The event, jointly organized with the Indian Yoga Association, Jharkhand State Chapter, featured lectures on the scientific, psychological, and practical aspects of meditation. Justice Anubha Rawat Chaudhary, Jharkhand High Court, encouraged attendees to incorporate meditation into their daily lives.
Other speakers included Deepankar Chatterjee, Pritam Banik (Yoga Teacher), and Dr. Anuradha Wats (Clinical Psychiatrist). Dr. Prabhat Kumar, District Medical Officer, Ranchi, also graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor.
Swami Bhaveshananda Maharaj emphasized the importance of meditation in daily life, drawing insights from the Gita and the teachings of Ramakrishna, Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda. He provided guidance on practical meditation techniques and expressed his vision for a yogic, organic, and ethical Jharkhand.
Amit Kumar, Secretary of the Indian Yoga Association, Jharkhand, delivered the vote of thanks. Ms. Shraddha moderated the program.
