National Youth Day 2025: Jalpaiguri

Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jalpaiguri, celebrated National Youth Day on January 12, 2025, with a series of events commemorating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

The day began with a solemn ceremony at the Ashrama, featuring the garlanding of Swami Vivekananda’s statue and a flag-hoisting ceremony.

A Vibrant Procession

A vibrant procession then snaked through the streets of Jalpaiguri town. The procession included a diverse group of participants, including:

  • Monks, devotees, volunteers, and staff of the Ashrama
  • Members of the general public
  • Teachers and students from 27 educational institutions
  • Members of a Dance Academy
  • Volunteers from various organizations

The procession was further enlivened by the inclusion of tableaux depicting “Shashwata Bharata” (Eternal India) and the “Holy Trinity” (Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda). The Dhaki and Police Band (IRB, Jalpaiguri) provided a spirited musical accompaniment.

Approximately 1000 individuals participated in this colorful display of unity and enthusiasm. The procession concluded with the distribution of tiffin packets, complimentary books, HT photos, and photographs of Swami Vivekananda to all participants.

Engaging Cultural Program

The Ashrama also organized a captivating cultural program that included:

  • Soulful Vedic chanting
  • Patriotic songs that resonated with the audience
  • Energetic band performances

The event was a resounding success, fostering national pride and inspiring the youth, in true accordance with the vision of Swami Vivekananda.
