Ramakrishna Mission, Haflong, celebrated National Youth Day with great enthusiasm on Sunday, January 12, 2025. A Youth Convention was organized, attracting nearly 300 students, teachers, devotees, and admirers. The program commenced at 9:30 AM and concluded at 3:45 PM.
The celebrations began with a solemn ceremony featuring the offering of flowers at the feet of Swami Vivekananda’s statue, followed by flag hoisting and a collective recitation of Swamiji’s “Swadesh Mantra.”
The Youth Convention included a diverse range of activities:
- Practice of Concentration and Meditation: Participants engaged in exercises designed to cultivate focus and inner peace.
- Inspiring Addresses: Swami Amiteshananda delivered an insightful address on Swami Vivekananda’s inspiring messages for the youth of India and the significance of National Youth Day. Sri Dinesh Tiwari, Professor, Department of English, Haflong College, spoke on the duties and responsibilities of students in the light of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings.
- Student Performances: Nearly fifty students showcased their talents through singing, reciting Swami Vivekananda’s poems, narrating stories from his life, demonstrating yogasanas, and participating in speech competitions on the topics “Swami Vivekananda’s Thoughts on Education” and “Punya Bhumi Bharat Barsha.”
The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by Smt. Probita Johari, Executive Member of NC Hill Council, Haflong, Dima Hasao, Assam.
All participants were presented with two books on Swami Vivekananda. A delicious noon prasad was served to all attendees at the conclusion of the program.
