Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, Chennai, celebrated the 40th National Youth Day on 10th and 12th January 2025, commemorating the 163rd Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The celebrations encompassed a diverse range of activities, culminating in a vibrant commemoration of the Swami’s life and teachings.
Inter-Collegiate and Inter-School Competitions:
From 8th to 10th January, the Home hosted a series of inter-polytechnic college and inter-school competitions, including literary, oratorical, and sports events. A total of 596 students from 31 schools and 18 polytechnic colleges across Chennai actively participated. The competitions witnessed a high level of enthusiasm and talent, with 88 prizes awarded to the top three winners in each category.
Prize Distribution Ceremony:
On the afternoon of 10th January, the prize distribution ceremony was held at the Home’s auditorium. Sri N. Thangaraj, a distinguished motivational speaker, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Swami Jnanaswarupanandaji, Polytechnic In-charge, delivered the inaugural address, while Sri N. Sukumaran, Principal of a Polytechnic College, welcomed the gathering. Swami Dharmishthanandaji, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, delivered the benedictory address.
Blood Donation Camp:
As part of the National Youth Day celebrations, the Home organized a blood donation camp on 10th January morning in collaboration with Government Stanley Medical College, Chennai. 56 students, staff members, and well-wishers generously donated blood, reflecting the spirit of service that Swami Vivekananda emphasized.
“Run Young India” Marathon:
Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, through its Vivekananda Youth Forum, organized the “Run Young India” National Youth Day Marathon-2025. 118 students from the Home’s polytechnic college participated, achieving commendable results, including first and third place in the 7km run category.
National Youth Day Meeting:
On 12th January, a special National Youth Day meeting was held at the Home campus. Sri Rtn. Ram N Ramamurthy, a distinguished alumnus of the Home (1977-1985) and CEO of EIPP Solutions Pvt. Ltd., served as the Chief Guest. Swami Jnanaswarupanandaji delivered a discourse on Swami Vivekananda’s teachings, while Swami Dharmishthanandaji emphasized the importance of Swami Vivekananda’s ideas in shaping individual personalities and nation-building.

The National Youth Day celebrations at Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, Chennai, were a resounding success.
