Cataract Screening and Surgery
On 19th January 2025, Ramakrishna Math, Madurai, organized a free screening camp for cataract surgeries in collaboration with Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai. A total of 122 outpatients were examined, comprising 65 males, 55 females, and 2 children. Of these, 30 patients were selected for surgery, all of whom successfully underwent the procedure on 23rd January 2025 at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai. Additionally, 27 patients were provided with spectacles as part of the camp.
Free Diabetic Checkup Camp
Alongside the eye camp, a free diabetic checkup camp was also held on the same day in collaboration with Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Speciality Centre, Madurai. A total of 110 patients, including 60 males and 50 females, were screened. Of these, 36 individuals were diagnosed with diabetes. Medicines and diet charts were provided to those affected, with advice and guidance from a qualified dietitian.
Ration Distribution
As part of the initiative, 48 eye patients were also provided with free ration kits. Each kit included 1 kg of dal, 1 kg of sugar, ½ kg of tamarind, 1 kg of edible oil, 200 grams of chili powder, ½ kg of sambar powder, 1 kg of sooji, and one bar of bathing soap.
