Inter-School Competition: Almora, May 2025

Ramakrishna Kutir, Almora

The annual Vivekananda Inter-School Competition was organized for schools in Almora town, drawing enthusiastic participation from approximately 3500 students across 39 schools. This year’s event was conducted in a two-round format:

  • First Round: Held at respective schools between 23rd April and 1st May 2025
  • Second Round: Conducted at Government Girls’ Inter College, Almora, on 4th May 2025

The prize distribution ceremony took place on 11th May at the banquet hall of Hotel Milam Inn, graced by the presence of:

  • Sri Ajay Verma, Mayor of Almora
  • Swami Atmashraddhananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Kanpur
  • Swami Sukhananda, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Bhuj
  • Monks from various Ramakrishna Mission centres in India and Bangladesh
  • Around 50 retreat delegates, along with students, parents, teachers, and principals

The event was enriched with vibrant cultural performances by student winners, reflecting the spirit of Indian tradition and Swami Vivekananda’s inspiring ideals.

Competition Categories and Awards:

A total of 112 students were felicitated for their exceptional performances in the following categories:

  • Classes 1–4: Art Competition
  • Classes 5–6: Comprehension based on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda
  • Classes 7–8: Bhagavad Gita chanting and explanation
  • Classes 9–10: Quiz on Swami Vivekananda, Indian culture, and Uttarakhand’s heritage
  • Classes 11–12: Speech on Swami Vivekananda’s Expectations from the Youth
  • School Level: Short play based on Swamiji’s life
  • School Level: Cultural presentation on Indian folk traditions and heritage

Food packets were distributed to all attendees, and refreshments were served to the invited guests, making the event a well-rounded celebration of learning, culture, and devotion.
