125th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Visit to Bangladesh: Dhaka, March 2025

With the spontaneous participation of a large number of devotees, the 190th Birth Anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna and the 125th year of the visit of Swami Vivekananda to Bangladesh were celebrated at Ramakrishna Math, Dhaka, through a diverse range of programmes held from 1st to 7th March 2025.

1 March 2025 (Saturday)

The first day’s programmes included Mangalarati, Ushakirtan, Special Puja, Homa, devotional songs, reading from scriptures, and talks on ‘Sri Ramakrishna’. The Pushpanjali was offered at 12:15 p.m., followed by distribution of noon-prasad. A documentary titled “Hey Yuga Ishwara” was screened at 4:00 p.m.

In the evening, the celebration was inaugurated by Srimat Swami Purnatmanandaji Maharaj, Head of the Centre. A discussion followed on ‘Sri Ramakrishna and the Spiritual Renaissance’ with Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Podder, Advisor, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, as Chief Guest. Distinguished professors and monks of the Order also spoke.

4 March 2025 (Tuesday)

The day marked the inauguration of the 125th Year Celebration of Swami Vivekananda’s Visit to Bangladesh, and the annual function of Ramakrishna Mission High School, Dhaka. The event included Vedic chanting and readings from scriptures.

A discourse was delivered on ‘The Ideal of Swami Vivekananda’ by Swami Purnatmananda. The Chief Guest was Major General Muhammad Moin Khan, GOC of the 9th Infantry Division and Area Commander of Savar Area, Cantonment.

5 March 2025 (Wednesday)

Events included Padavali Kirtan, lyrical performances by children, and devotional dance by artistes of Samarpan Kala Kendra, Dhaka.
A discourse on Sri Ramakrishna for All followed in the evening, chaired by Swami Purnatmanandaji Maharaj. The High Commissioner of India in Dhaka, Mr. Pranay Verma, was the Chief Guest, along with other distinguished academicians.

6 March 2025 (Thursday)

Programmes included Padavali Kirtan and instrumental music (Esraj), followed by devotional dance by children from Spandan, Dhaka.
A prayer discourse on ‘Sri Ma Sarada Devi and Universal Unity’ was held in the evening, with Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Hon’ble Advisor, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, as the Chief Guest.

7 March 2025 (Friday)

The final day featured Ramayana songs, Nara-Narayan Seva, performances by children, and folk-song renditions by renowned artist Sri Kiran Chandra Roy, alongside other singers.
