In 1984, Swami Poornananda, established Ramakrishna Sevashramam at Nellore on a 1.36-acre plot of land. Upon his demise, the land came under the care of the Ramakrishna Mission in accordance with his will. In 2023, it was decided to affiliate the Nellore centre, initially placing it under the Ramakrishna Mission, Kadapa, as a sub-centre.
Later, in September 2024, the centre was made independent, and the mutation of the land and the transfer of assets of the Ramakrishna Sevashramam were initiated. Additionally, the shrine underwent necessary alterations. Once these tasks were completed by April 2025, a ceremonial handing over of the documents was planned. Accordingly, a Handing Over Ceremony was held on 1 June 2025, which also included the re-installation rituals of the statue of Sri Ramakrishna.
On 1 June 2025, the re-installation rituals began early in the morning. Swami Tattwavidananda ji Maharaj performed the re-installation ceremony which continued till 1:00 p.m. A public meeting was also held in the Sabhangana, at 9:30 a.m. After the prayer, welcome, and introduction, there were a few speeches by the monks. Swami Jnanavratananda ji Maharaj formally received the original land documents of the Ramakrishna Sevashramam, on behalf of the Headquarters. 30 monks and about 700 devotees and well-wishers participated in the programme. The ceremony concluded with lunch prasad at 1:30 p.m.
