Inaugural function of the Project “BETI” 

(Better Education and Training Initiatives)

 

The inaugural function of the Project “BETI” (Better Education and Training Initiatives) of Rotary Club of Madras East at Ramakrishna Mission Sarada Vidyalaya, Chennai on 29 November 2018.

Some of the  Sarada Vidyalaya students dressed as Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Maa Sarada & Swami Vivekananda displayed a tableau and welcomed the Defence Minister.

The programme started with Arati and invocation song and the lamp was lit by the Chief Guest.

The Secretary of Sarada Vidyalaya Schools, Smt. Harini Varma extended a warm welcome to the Honourable Defence Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitaraman and all the dignitaries present and briefed the history of the school and its onward march towards realizing the vision of the founder Sister Subbulakshmi, with the able guidance of Ramakrishna Math & Mission.

Swami Sukhadevananda greeted and  expressed his happiness over the presence of a woman Defence Minister from South India, a great inspiration for the girls of Sarada Vidyalaya.

Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman delivered a valuable speech to the audience, the majority of whom were Sarada Vidyalaya students.

She made a special mention of the need for selfless service to the society and the participation of many girl children in the Defence Academy. She expressed that only education can build a strong nation and appreciated Sarada Vidyalaya Schools for their yeomen service in the field of education especially by providing the latest technologies and facilities to the economically backward girl students.
