Values-based Education Programmes : Tamluk


Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Tamluk organized Values-based education programmes in commemoration of 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s  Chicago Addresses. The programmes were held from January – July 2019.


Intra-school Competitions

Cultural competitions were conducted in 27  schools of Purba Medinipur and Paschim Medinipur.

After the competition, in each school, a seminar on Chicago addresses and a prize distribution programme were held.

Resource persons like Asis Kumar Patra, Ex-Headmaster of Chakdwipa High School, Saroj Kumar Jana, Headmaster of Patna Adarsha Vidyapith and Manas Dhara, Headmaster of Byabattarhal Adarsha High School attended the seminars with Swami Mahatapananda as the key resource person.


Inter-school Competitions

An inter-school cultural competition was held in the premises of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrarma, Tamluk where the first and second prize winners from each school competed.

About 610 students, teachers, devotees, volunteers, judges, guests, and well-wishers attended the programme on July 10, 2019.

Swami Shrutisarananda, Adhyaksha and Secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Tamluk delivered the welcome address after the Vedic chanting presented by the students of Vivekananda study circle, Tamluk.

Swami Somatmanancla, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Asansol presided over the programme and spoke on the significance of  Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago Addresses. Saroj Kumar Jana, the Headmaster of Patna Adarsha Vidyapith highlighted the importance of values-based education programme in schools.

The students of  Vivekananda Study Circle recited poems on Swami Vivekananda.

The students of Hat Sarberia Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy Smriti Sikshaniketan presented a song and the students of Moyna Vivekananda Kenya Vidyapith performed a short drama on the life of Swamiji.
