Drought Relief Work in Karnataka, Maharashtra & Telangana : April 2016

Drought Relief work in Karnataka, Maharashtra & Telangana

A Brief Report as on 30.04.2016

Lack of sufficient rainfall and searing heatwave has caused an acute drought situation in a major portion of the country. Lakhs of families are suffering from lack of minimum potable water. Agriculture and livestock has also been severely affected. This grave drought situation at the very onset of summer is a serious concern for us all.

Seeing the miserable plight of these poor and needy people, Ramakrishna Mission has initiated drought relief work in some of the affected areas. Thousands of liters of drinking water is being distributed among the drought victims through our Pune centre in Satara district of Maharashtra, through our Belgavi centre in Belgavi district of Karnataka and through our Hyderabad centre in Warangal, Adilabad, Nizamabad and Karimnagar districts of Telangana. Our Aurangabad centre is also making arrangements of starting distribution of water among nearly 38,000 people in 18 villages in Aurangabad taluk of Aurangabad district. A brief report of the relief work conducted so far is given below:
