Activities 2019-20: Relief Work

The Mission and Math conducted several relief and rehabilitation operations during the year. The total expenditure incurred on these was Rs. 38.24 crore (Rs. 5.25 crore in cash and Rs. 32.99 crore in kind). In all, 8,23,866 people of 5,17,415 families in 7705 villages were benefitted. Details of some major operations are given below:

Our centres in Odisha, Gujarat and West Bengal distributed the following items to 29,225 families and 6500 people affected by Fani, Vayu and Bulbul storms: 24,309 saris, 4500 solar lanterns, 2500 solar lights, 23,360 kg rice, 5490 kg pulses, 7100 kg potatoes, 1398 kg cooking oil, 2700 kg chira, 1050 kg sugar, 6327 packets of biscuits, 14,022 packets of meal/snacks, 9191 mosquito-nets, 3100 plastic sheets, 1500 tarpaulins and 3 lakh water purification tablets.

A total of 3050 litres of lemonade, 89,824 litres of buttermilk, 31,000 litres of drinking water were served to thirsty wayfarers by our centres in Chennai, Hyderabad, Madurai, Puri, Raipur and Vadodara.

The headquarters and the following centres distributed various items, shown against their names, to needy people:

  1. Chandipur: 2 sewing machines.
  2. Guwahati: 9 tantsal and 12 sewing machines.
  3. Khetri: 103 sewing machines.
  4. Koyilandy: 10 sewing machines.
  5. Manasadwip: 105 asbestos sheets, 28 pipes, 16 concrete pillars, 12 bamboo poles, 8 tarpaulins, 7 corrugated tin sheets, 40 clay roof tiles, 70 bricks, 7 bags of cement and 5 bags of sand.
  6. Ponnampet: 54 sewing machines and 64 honey collection boxes.
  7. Porbandar: 9 sewing machines.
  8. Rahara: 2 sewing machines, 1 cycle rickshaw, 1 rickshaw van, 6 tricycles, 5 wheelchairs, 11 folding sticks, 1 crutch and 5 hearing aids.
  9. Ramanathapuram: 48 sewing machines.
  10. Thiruvalla: 10 computers, 3 printers and a camera.
  11. Belgharia centre installed a submersible pump.
  12. Headquarters built 8 anganwadis and distributed 400 bicycles in Alappuzha district of Kerala.
  13. Rahara centre sunk a tube-well in South 24 Parganas district.
  14. Thiruvalla centre built 3 new houses, repaired 11 houses, set up a water treatment plant and cleaned two wells in Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts.
