In commemoration of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav dedicated to Swami Vivekananda and the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sri Aurobinda, Ramakrishna Mission, Hatamuniguda organised a special programme at Berhampur Jail and Bhanjanagar Jail for the jail inmates on 12 and 13 August 2022, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.
Several eminent personalities including Sri Satyanarayan Behera, Jailor and Sri Dandapani Patra, Jail Superintendent discussed various topics like “Swami Vivekananda’s contribution to the freedom movement of India”, “Freedom movement and Sri Aurobinda” and “Life and teachings of Sri Aurobinda” and inspired the inmates to build their lives in the light of Swamiji’s and Sri Aurobindo’s teachings. Swami Prabhuvarananda presided over both functions.
The programme also included devotional and patriotic songs and dance drama etc. presented by the students of St Xavier High School, Bhanjanagar. Shri Ashok Kumar Sahoo, Senior Teacher welcomed the audience and introduced the programme.
A total no of 1300 persons, including 1218 jail inmates attended the programme. All the jail inmates were presented with books on Ramakrishna Vivekananda in Odiya (Tinoti Divya Jiban O Bani and Vivekananda – Jatiprati tankara Auhan) .
