CYCLONE RELIEF AND REHABILITATION
Andhra Pradesh: In the wake of severe cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ that hit Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on 11 October, Visakhapatnam centre distributed 1650 blankets and the following materials (4375 kg resin, 116 kg catalyst, 125 kg accelerator, 27 kg pigment, 1050 kg chalk powder and 1445 kg mats) for repairing 125 boats among 2400 families in Srikakulam district from 25 October to 6 February.
Tamil Nadu: In the wake of severe cyclonic storm ‘Gaja’ that made landfall in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu on 16 November, the following centres conducted relief services.
(a) Chennai Students’ Home centre distributed diesel engine spare parts and 98 bedsheets among 221 families in Nagapattinam district from 22 December to 26 January.
(b) Kanchipuram centre distributed 169 asbestos sheets and 1200 palm leaves among 13 families in Thanjavur district on 12 January.

FLOOD REHABILITATION
The Headquarters (Belur Math), through Kochi centre, has undertaken rehabilitation work by constructing 9 anganwadis (rural childcare centre) in Alappuzha district.
ECONOMIC REHABILITATION
Under self-employment programme, the following centres distributed necessary items, shown against their names, to poor and needy people in their respective areas:
Antpur: 81 dhadda weaving instruments, 25 sewing machines and 17 rickshaw vans from 12 January to 22 February.
Chandipur: 4 sewing machines on 30 January.
Taki: 1 fishing boat and 2 fishing-nets on 15 February.
WINTER RELIEF
This year, 63,003 blankets and 1,52,676 winter garments are being distributed among the poor and needy people, through 121 of our branch centres in different parts of the country.

DISTRESS RELIEF
To extend a helping hand to poor and needy people, 14 of our centres in different parts of the country have distributed 300 kg rice, 128 kg dal, 5565 saris, 1852 dhotis, 763 uttariyas, 35 shirts, 35 T-shirts, 1862 pairs of socks, 35 bedsheets, 10 pillows, 369 mosquito-nets, 20 plates, 20 tumblers, 20 bowls, 20 spoons, 30 pots, 10 jugs, 10 mugs and 10 buckets among poor and needy people during the month of February.
In the current year (2018-19), new adult garments donated to us by ITC Ltd. are being distributed among the poor and needy under the Garments Distribution Programme. ITC Ltd. has donated nearly 3.61 lakh garments (2,58,350 shirts/T-shirts and 1,74,173 trousers) to 90 of our branch centres.
