Activities 2022-23 : New Developments


Ramakrishna Mission:

Important developments in the activities of the Ramakrishna Mission are given  below  under  the  following  headings:  (i)  Educational  Field,  (ii) Medical Field, (iii) Rural Development Field, (iv) Other Developments.

(i) Educational Field:

1. Aalo centre:

a. Constructed an auditorium cum indoor stadium, a table tennis stadium, a multigym, science labs, a central office, a new building for students’ store, two big garages and a residential building for staff.

b. Started Vivekananda Sanskriti Centre in West Siang district to impart education in values, music, arts, personality development and vocational skill

2. Asansol centre:

a. Constructed a book stall cum library building.

b. Set up a STEM lab at the secondary school.

c. Installed a statue of Swami Vivekananda on its ITI campu

3. Chennai Sarada Vidyalaya:

a. Built an open-air auditorium, a badminton court and a multipurpose court.

b. Set up a STEM lab at the secondary school.

4. Chennai Students Home launched a mobile laboratory to give exposure in robotics to the students of Government school

5. Coimbatore Mission:

a. Built an extension (diamond jubilee block) to the Swami Shivananda Higher Secondary School.

b. Set up a permanent exhibition on Indian culture.

c. Built a sports complex for both common and disabled people.

6. Darjeeling centre started a computer training centre.

7. Gol Park centre:

a. Introduced the Tibetan language course in its school of language

b. Introduced the Communicative and Interactive Sanskrit Course for the children & junior members of the library.

c. Introduced a course on Southeast Asian Art and Culture through the study of Ramayana in the school of fine arts and crafts.

d. Commenced a civil services coaching programme in the school of languages.

e. Started work on the digitization of manuscripts in the new manuscripts section.

f. Started a new  multilingual  journal,  The  Beacon  of  the  School  of Languages.

8. Hatamuniguda centre:

a. Built Vivekananda Hall (auditorium), installed two smart boards, set up a students’ seminar room and built a toilet block.

b. Started three study circles in nearby places.

9. Jammu centre upgraded the reading room facility.

10. Jamshedpur centre constructed a new school building on the premises of its Vivekananda English High School, Sakchi.

11. Jhargram centre:

a. Started 2 GAP units at Chandabila and Odalchua.

b. Renovated the school auditorium.

c. Started a high-capacity gym for its students.

d. Introduced vocational training  courses  like  baking  and  beautician training for its students.

e. Set up 4 smart classrooms.

f. Installed a computerized telescope.

12. Kamarpukur centre constructed a new building for the higher secondary school.

13. Kanpur centre built a hall for its GAP unit.

14. Lumdung centre built a boys’ academic block, a laboratory cum activity block, and an admin block.

15. Malliankaranai centre:

a. Installed a water treatment plant on the secondary school campu

b. Set up physics, chemistry and biology labs.

c. Built a toilet block in the primary school.

16. Medinipur centre constructed a building to house a bookstore and a multipurpose hall.

17. Nabadwip centre:

a. Started a computer training centre.

b. Constructed Swami Atmasthananda Bhavan for educational activities.

18. Narainpur centre built two new staff quarters and a dressing room for footballer

19. Narendrapur centre:

a. Built Swami Brahmananda Nivas on the ITI campus.

b. Set up a dining room for guests, and a new gymnasium. c. Renovated the dining hall at the Vidyalaya.

20. New Town (Viveka Tirtha):

a. Built the Vivekananda Auditorium, the facade of which resembles the Art Institute of Chicago, USA.

b. Built the Centre for Human Excellence and Social Sciences.

21. Raiganj centre started a coaching centre.

22. Ranchi Morabadi:

a. Started the Akhanda Shiksha Sanskara Kendras to impart integrated education to children.

b. Renovated the hostel kitchen.

23. RKMVERI:

a. Started a centre for Artificial Intelligence and other technologies on its main campus at Belur.

b. Acquired OpenBCI Cyton Biosensing Board (8 channels) for the Dept of Sports Science and Yoga, Belur campus.

c. Purchased Nvidia A100 GPU (to facilitate the Indian Sign Language recognition task) for the Department of Computer Science, Belur campus.

d. Purchased a cultivator machine for the Faculty of IRTDM, Ranchi.

e. Acquired sporting equipment like movable basketball post, movable tennis post and movable badminton post and started new academic programmes for the Faculty of GAPEY, Coimbatore.

f. Acquired medical equipment like KEL PLUS Automatic Nitrogen; Protein System, Gel  Electrophoresis  System  (Bio-Rad),  BOD Incubator,  Rocker  Shaker  Single  Platform,  Magnetic  Stirrer,  Heat Block Dry Bath and Laboratory Centrifuge for the Faculty of IRDM, Narendrapur.

24. Sargachhi centre installed 6 smart classrooms at the school.

25. Sarisha centre:

a. Installed medical furniture and equipment for the training of general duty assistants.

b. Started eight values education centres.

26. Seva Pratishthan centre:  Vivekananda  Institute  of  Medical  Sciences introduced MD in Radiodiagnosis and MCh in Urology.

27. Swami Vivekananda’s Ancestral House and Cultural Centre started four coaching centres at Bowria in Howrah, Naipur in Purba Medinipur, Kashmuli in Paschim Mednipur, and Kesiary in Jhargram.

28. Taki centre built a hostel kitchen.

29. Varanasi Home of Service:

a. Produced 10 short Hindi films on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda.

b. Launched an e-Library website.

30. Villupuram centre:

a. Built a prayer hall and classrooms at the nursery and primary school.

b. Constructed an office building and a compound wall.

c. Installed RO water treatment plants on the high school and primary school campuses.

d. Dug a borewell on the higher secondary school campus.

31. Vishakhapatnam centre built 5 classrooms at its high school.

32. Viveknagar, Agartala:

a. Set up a teacher’s enclave at the Vidyalaya.

b. Started an art gallery and a computer training centre at the Vidyalaya.

c. Set up an ICT lab, a food plaza and a permanent photo exhibition at ITI.

d. Built a new kitchen shed on the main campus.

e. Inaugurated a security kiosk and a personnel enclave at its Gangail Road sub-centre.

f. Constructed a new building housing a bookstore and a computer centre at its Gangail Road sub-centre.

 

(ii) Medical Field:

1. Aalo centre procured an ambulance and 2 light vehicles for the hospital and mobile medical unit

2. Asansol centre installed  a  Color  Doppler  Ultrasound  System  (eco cardiography machine) in its dispensary.

3. Bajepratappur centre started a dispensary.

4. Dehradun centre constructed a medical centre building, as an extension to the existing hospital.

5. Deoghar centre installed a digital X-ray machine, a thyroid test machine and a USG machine in its dispensary.

6. Guwahati centre   added   the   following   medical   equipment   to   its dispensary: H-560 Fully Automated Haematology Analyzer, Pepco IFT- 28 Promag IF9F, Pepco Laser Therapy PL-250, Lifestim Plus and an exercise cycle.

7. Itanagar centre purchased 6 new ventilator

8. Jaipur centre started an ophthalmology department in its dispensary.

9. Jayrambati centre installed  the  following  medical  equipment  in  its dispensary: A digital X-ray machine, Semi Auto Analyzer, Uroflowmetry machine, ECG machine, laser treatment machine for Physiotherapy, IFT machine and UST machine.

10. Kamarpukur centre installed a digital X-ray machine.

11. Kankhal Sevashrama:

a. Renovated the dentistry department.

b. Added the following equipment to its hospital: microscope, dialysis machine, Comet Plus, ultrasound machine, ultrasound scanner, RVG (dental X-ray unit), portable X-ray machine and a dental chair.

12. Kasundia centre started an allopathic section in the dispensary.

13. Kothar centre started an allopathic dispensary on its premise

14. Lucknow Sevashrama inaugurated an oxygen generating plant.

15. Malda centre purchased a van to serve as mobile dispensary.

16. Narendrapur centre added  the  following  medical  equipment  to  its Panchakarma unit: Ring/Tank of Janu Vasti, Ring/Tank of Kati Vasti, Netra-Vasti (Akshi Tarpan) spectacles, Shiro-Vasticap, Nadi-Swedan Yantra, Shirodhara Pot and Ceragem-V3.

17. New Delhi centre purchased a new Otoscope for ENT investigation and treatment.

18. Patna centre installed a new Phaco machine.

19. Purulia centre constructed a dispensary building.

20. Raiganj centre started a dispensary.

21. Ranchi TB Sanatorium:

a. Built an OPD block and a toilet block.

b. Renovated the OT unit.

c. Set up an effluent treatment plant and built a boundary wall and a guard room.

d. Installed the   following   medical   equipment:   TrueNat   machine, centrifuge machine, electrotherapy machine, air bike for physiotherapy and an IV stand with wheels.

e. Installed a water tank.

22. Salem Ashrama installed the following medical equipment: Sinoscope, Fully Auto Chemiluminescence Immunoassay Analyzer and Skanray HF Fixed RAD System (X-ray machine).

23. Sargachhi centre:

a. Installed USG, Automated Immunology Analyzer and HPL medical equipment.

b. Constructed an Ayurveda building.

24. Seva Pratishthan centre:

a. Installed a 192-Slice CT Scan machine.

b. Built a modular operation theatre with the latest machinery.

c. Added a C-arm equipment at the operation theatre.

d. Installed a DRF X-ray machine (Luminos Impulse).

e. Extended the community health service programme to Kumirmorah area in Hooghly district.

25. Tamluk centre started an allopathic dispensary.

26. Varanasi Home of Service centre:

a. Built an operation theatre complex.

b. Renovated the dental and physiotherapy units.

c. Installed air conditioning  facility  at  the  medical  male  ward,  and physiotherapy and dental units.

d. Installed the following medical equipment: OPG X-ray machine, Laser equipment, Robotic Spiral Decompression, HB1AC Automatic Analyzer, Integra Cusa Excel Generator & Skull Clamp, and modular OT equipment.

27. Vrindavan centre:

a. Started the catheterization laboratory.

b. Started the cardio thoracic & vascular surgery unit.

c. Installed the   following   medical   equipment:   Echo   Smart   RVG confident, OT Stayker, Compia MRI CRDT, ECG 24 CH Traveller, Humidifier for NICU, 2 Servo Ventilators, Cath Lmt and accessories, Foetal Monitor, Transducer V6-2, OT cautery unit, laparoscopic unit, neurosurgery equipment, paediatric cardiology external, 4 ECG 12 S machines, 22 oxygen cylinders, 3 baby warmers for NICU, and neuro- surgery equipment.

d. Built Lakshmi Nivas (with waiting halls and doctors’ quarters).

 

(iii) Rural Development Field:

1. Bajepratappur centre started a sub-centre at Bhandardihi village. The sub-centre has a shrine, a non-formal school and a healthcare unit.

2. Muzaffarpur centre opened 2 tailoring centres in 2 village

3. Narainpur centre:

a. Constructed 2 girls’ hostel buildings & 1 middle school building at its Kachchapal & Irakbhatti tribal development centres.

b. Constructed a boys’ hostel building at the Kundla tribal development centre.

c. Constructed a boys’ hostel and a nutrition rehabilitation centre cum dispensary building at the Akabeda tribal development centre.

d. Constructed a middle   school building at its Kachchapal tribal development centre.

e. Built a farmers’ training hall on the Brehbeda campu

f. Constructed new OPD  buildings  with  10  beds  each  at  Kundla  & Akabeda tribal development centre

g. Installed the following  medical  equipment:  haematology  analyser, haemoglobinobinopathy analyser, defibrillator,  portable X-ray machine, surgical equipment, etc.

4. Narendrapur centre started  an  orchard  development  programme for tribal families to develop greeneries.

5. Ranchi Morabadi centre:

a. Started a gurukul at Chipibandhdih village for providing education to children.

b. Installed 5 multilayer  Azolla  units,  1  portable  biogas  unit  and  1 hydroponics maize fodder unit.

6. Sargachhi centre started a mobile dispensary to provide medical facilities in 4 tribal village

7. Sohra centre constructed school buildings at  Shella,  Nongwar, Jatap, Pyrkan, Rumnong & Mawshamok villages under the Special Purpose Vehicle Society scheme.

8. Varanasi Home of Service:

a. Developed multimedia-based teaching  material  for  primary  school children.

b. Started Shishu Tirtha,  a  non-formal  school  with  3  rural  units  to provide holistic primary education.

c. Started 2 mobile telemedicine units, 1 stationary telemedicine unit, and extended its medical service to new rural areas.

d. Started a mobile dispensary to serve the Sarai-Mohana village.

9. Villupuram centre started 3 tuition centres at Kanisapakkam village.

 

(iv) Other Developments:

1. Aalo centre:

a. Built a boundary wall of length 1.5 kms.

b. Built a water tank for the supply of potable water.

c. Installed a steam cooking facility at its kitchen.

d. Installed an overhead electrical transmission system in an area of 74 acres.

2. Bilaspur centre built a guest house and a toilet block.

3. Darjeeling centre built a guesthouse named Nivedita Cottage.

4. Headquarters constructed the Abhedananda Convention Centre.

5. Jhargram centre built an extension to the monks’ quarter

6. Kamarpukur centre built a tin shed over its Pallimangal building.

7. Kanpur centre installed a statue of Swami Vivekananda on its campus.

8. Kasundia centre built Shivananda Bhavan which will be used to run a dispensary and to accommodate guest

9. Khetri centre built a cultural complex comprising an indoor auditorium, an open-air theatre, a garden, a souvenir shop, a cafeteria, and a light-and- sound show on Swami Vivekananda.

10. Mangaluru centre planted 4000 saplings in 2 acres of urban land.

11. Nabadwip centre:

a. Installed a statue of Swami Vivekananda.

b. Installed a water treatment plant.

c. Started a Sevakendra.

d. Constructed a building to house a dispensary and a coaching centre.

12. Narottam Nagar centre installed a statue of Swami Vivekananda and of Bhagavan Buddha.

13. Puri Mission centre built staff quarter

14. Raiganj centre built an office building.

15. Sarisha centre built 2 staff quarters and a storeroo

16. Taki centre installed a bronze statue of Swami Vivekananda.

17. Viveknagar centre, Agartala opened a new kitchen.


Ramakrishna Math:

Important developments in the activities of the Ramakrishna Math are given  below  under  the  following  headings:  (i)  Educational  Field,  (ii) Medical Field, and (iii) Other Developments.

 

(i) Educational Field:

1. Almora centre:

a. Constructed a building with a bookstore and a multipurpose hall.

b. Produced a documentary film on ‘Swami Vivekananda in Kumaon’ in Hindi & English.

2. Chengam Math started a vocational training unit.

3. Chennai Math:

a. Started the Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence on the main campus.

b. Started the Vivekananda  Free  Tuition  and  Computer  Centre  at  its Ramakrishnapuram unit.

4. Madurai centre upgraded its primary school to a high school.

5. Purnea centre started training in tailoring.

6. Rajkot centre:

a. Started a coaching centre for the students of secondary class students in Gondal District.

b. Opened a bookstore at Somnath for the propagation of Ramakrishna- Vivekananda-Vedanta literature.

7. Ramanathapuram centre constructed an extension to the school building on its main campus at Nagachi village.

8. Thrissur centre constructed a building for its pre

9. Vrindavan centre opened a new bookstore.

 

(ii) Medical Field:

1. Ahmedabad centre started a mobile medical unit.

2. Chennai Math purchased new medical equipment for the pathology lab and the eye section of its dispensary.

3. Kankurgachhi centre installed a USG machine.

4. Lalgarh centre started a homeopathic dispensary.

5. Nattarampalli centre started a dental unit and installed an ultrasound scan facility.

6. Ponnampet centre installed thyroid testing equipment.

7. Puri Math centre started a mobile medical unit.

8. Rajkot centre installed a phaco machine, microscope stand, pre-optic implant motor, slit lamp, lens meter, and a lift in the eye care unit.

9. Thiruvananthapuram centre:

a. Started a college of nursing and a paramedical institute.

b. Started a gastroenterology ambulatory centre.

c. Installed 2 ultrasound   machines, 2 echo machines and several diagnostic instruments.

 

(iii) Other Developments:

 

1. Almora centre built a kitchen and a dining hall, and an extension to the monk’s quarter

2. Antpur centre built a waiting hall.

3. Barisha centre installed a lift at the old age home.

4. Cossipore centre constructed a new building to house a bookstore and a few office roo

5. Chennai Math purchased  a  new  printing  press  for  the  publication department.

6. Monks’ quarters at Dakshineshwar Math (a sub-centre directly under Headquarters) was renovated.

7. Headquarters acquired the  premises  of  the  sacred  and  historical Alambazar Math, Kolkata, to start a branch centre of the Ramakrishna Math in due course.

8. Jamtara constructed a new office building.

9. Malda centre renovated Sri Ramakrishna temple.

10. Mangaluru Math built the main gate and monks’ quarter

11. Mayavati centre:

a. Built staff quarter

b. Renovated the main  building  of  the  ashrama  and  the  Prabudhha Bharata building.

12. Mekhliganj centre built monks’ quarter

13. Rajkot centre built a computer centre on the second floor of the VIVEC building.

14. Shyamla Tal centre:

a. Built a new guest house.

b. Installed a 15 KW solar power plant.

15. Thanjavur centre:

a. Installed a statue of Swami Vivekananda at the Porter Town Hall in Kumbakonam.

b. Installed a borewell at the village centre.
