Activities 2022-23 : Relief and Rehabilitation Work


Ramakrishna Math

Relief & Rehabilitation Work: The Math conducted several relief and rehabilitation operations during the year. The total expenditure incurred on these was Rs. 1.44 crore. In all, 74,698 people from 55,600 families in  938  villages  benefited  through  the  programmes.  Details  of  some major operations are given below:

e. Winter Relief: A total of 22,135 blankets and 1906 winter garments were distributed among 24,718 people from 458 villages through 36 Math centres in India.

f. Fire Relief: Puri Math distributed 4004 kg rice, 2000 kg wheat flour, 420 kg pulses, 400 kg salt and 400 kg sugar among 2646 people in 6 villages.

g. Rehabilitation: The following centres carried out the following rehabilitation activities:

1. Almora: Built 20 houses for the rain-affected families in Nainital, Almora, Pithoragarh,   Udham   Singh   Nagar   and   Bageshwar district

2. Gourhati: Built a  house  for  a  poor  family  at  Arambagh in Hooghly district.

3. Naora: Built 2 houses for poor families in South 24 Parganas district.

4. Shyampukur Bati, Kolkata: Distributed 13 sewing machines and 4 cycles.

5. Thanjavur: Distributed 3 cows, built 1 cowshed, and repaired 1 cowshed.


Ramakrishna Mission

Relief & Rehabilitation Work: The Mission conducted several relief and rehabilitation operations during the year. The total expenditure incurred on these was Rs. 6.02 crore. In all, 3,77,238 people of 1,70,433 families in 3154 villages benefited. Details of some major operations are given below:

f. Winter Relief: A total of 68,716 blankets and 3695 winter garments were distributed among 62,207 families and 94,428 people in 1710 villages through 81 branch centres in India.

g. Gangasagar Mela Relief:

1. Seva Pratishthan hospital extended round-the-clock medical service on the Mela ground In all, 8268 patients were treated, out of which 233 received indoor medical care. Also, the centre distributed 180 blankets among the pilgrims.

2. Manasadwip centre provided board and lodging to 548 pilgrims at its unit in Gangasagar.

3. Headquarters distributed 500 blankets among the pilgrims.

 

h. Economic/General Rehabilitation: The following rehabilitation activities were carried out by our centres:

1. Chennai Students’ Home: Distributed 34 sewing machines and 34 sewing kits.

2. Deoghar: Supplied 75 bags of cement, 500 cubic feet of sand, 95 kg iron bars, 1500 bricks, 122 boxes of tiles, 25 bags of putty, and four cubic feet of timber to a family in need.

3. Guwahati: Distributed 11   sewing   machines   and   6   handloom machines (tantsals).

4. Headquarters: Supplied 135 bags cement, 46 TMT bars, 500 cubic feet stone chips and 800 cubic feet red sand to a family in South 24 Parganas district.

5. Indore: Provided 200 study tables, 130 sets of school benches & desks, 22 ceramic chalkboards, 1 almirah, 2 sets of Bluetooth speakers and 2 ceiling fans to 9 government schools in Khargone district.

6. Karimganj: Provided 592 corrugated tin sheets and 69 ridges from 7 to 26 March to 30 families in Karimganj district.

7. Khetri: Distributed 45 sewing machine

8. Mumbai: Installed a solar-based drinking water distribution system and water storage tank each at Dahvadpada and at Borsepada villages in Palghar district.

9. Rahara: Distributed 2  sewing  machines,  a  cycle  rickshaw  and  3 rickshaw-vans.

10. Ramharipur: Relaid the roofs of four houses in Bankura district with asbestos sheets.

11. Ranchi Morabadi: Relaid the roofs of 2 houses of poor villagers in Ranchi district with asbestos sheets.

12. Salem: Supplied a VAC Ultra Therapy Unit to a government hospital at Omalur, Salem district; provided 2 kitchen trolleys, 100 tyres for stretcher wheels and 100 wheelchair wheels to a hospital in Salem; provided 1 water purifier, 15 plastic chairs, 12 bedsheets, 12 pillow covers, 2 steel benches, 2 digital BP apparatus, 3 stethoscopes and a weighing machine to a primary health centre in Manjakuttai, Salem district.

13. Swamiji’s Ancestral House: Distributed 6 sewing machine

 

i. Cyclone Amphan Rehabilitation:

1. Belgharia centre constructed a relief shelter cum non-formal education centre at Kaikhali in South 24 Parganas district.

2. Narendrapur centre constructed   a  relief shelter  cum non-formal education centre at Hingalganj in North 24 Parganas district.
