Ramakrishna Math
Important developments in the activities of the Ramakrishna Math are given below under the following headings: (i) Educational Field, (ii) Medical Field, and (iii) Other Developments.
(i) Educational Field:
- Almora centre: Made a documentary film ‘Footsteps of Swami Vivekananda in Devbhoomi’.
- Lalgarh centre built a building for conducting coaching classes.
- Mumbai centre started a mobile book stall.
- Purnea centre started a Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa unit and built a public library.
- Rajkot centre added a second floor to its values education building to conduct coaching classes and tailoring classes.
- Ramanathapuram centre built an extension to the school building.
- Vadodara centre started a vocational training unit.
Besides, the following centres started STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) labs at the schools run by them. The number of labs started by the centre is given in parentheses. Chennai Math (3), Kadapa (3), Kalady (3), Nattarampalli (3) and Thrissur (1).
(ii) Medical Field:
- Barisha centre started a physiotherapy clinic.
- Bhuj centre started a homeopathy dispensary and a mobile medical unit.
- Chennai Math added an I-Chemiluminescense Immunoasay Analyser for Thyroid tests.
- Kanchipuram centre started a dispensary.
- Ponnampet centre installed an X-ray machine.
- Rajkot centre added a generator to its dispensary.
- Thiruvananthapuram centre:
a. Restarted the polyclinic in Ambalamukku village.
b. Installed an Echo Machine and a Dox Oxygen Generator.
c. Started an audiology unit.
(iii) Other Developments:
- Almora centre built a kitchen, a dining hall, and an extension to its office building.
- Basti (a sub-centre directly under Headquarters) constructed a building comprising a prayer hall, office and monks’ quarters.
- Belur Math built a residential building for the Vice-Presidents of the order.
- Bolpur Math built an annexe to the monks’ quarters.
- Chennai Math:
a. Constructed two new buildings at Meyyur rural development centre.
b. Launched a film show based on the Kathopanishad and Swami Vivekananda at Vivekananda House. - Jayrambati centre built a building with a large hall in the basement, and a puja bhandar, kitchen and dining hall on the ground floor.
- Kalady centre:
a. Renovated the shrine-cum-monks’ quarters at Muvattupuzha sub-centre.
b. Installed a statue of Swami Vivekananda. - Kamarpukur centre:
a. Built a shed for its kitchen.
b. Developed the Budhui Moral cremation ground.
c. Built a three-storey building for running a unit of Gadadhar Abhuydaya Prakalpa and other service activities. - Kathamrita Bhavan constructed a three-storey building housing a prayer hall, a multipurpose hall, a few residential rooms for monks, and other facilities.
- Koyilandy centre:
a. Renovated the Sri Ramakrishna temple.
b. Constructed an archway. - Malda centre renovated two buildings at its Amrit campus.
- Mekhliganj centre built monks’ quarters.
- Naora centre:
a. Constructed a library building and a bookstall.
b. Started a community kitchen. - Rajarhat Bishnupur centre built Sri Ramakrishna Temple.
- Ramanathapuram centre built monks’ quarters.
- Thanjavur centre built a children’s park and a bathing ghat.
- Viveknagar (Agartala) centre built monks’ quarters.
Ramakrishna Mission
(i) Educational Field:
- Aalo centre:
a. Added chemistry and biology labs to the higher secondary school.
b. Started a computer lab with 60 computers.
c. Purchased 3 school buses, 2 trucks and a light vehicle.
d. Installed a synthetic floor at the indoor stadium. - Asansol centre set up a computer laboratory at the Vocational Training Centre.
- Bhopal centre:
a. Installed a bronze statue of Swami Vivekananda.
b. Built a lecture hall. - Bilaspur centre constructed a boys’ hostel, a coaching centre and computer training centre.
- Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) centre started a study centre.
- Chennai Vidyapith centre:
a. Renovated the college prayer hall.
b. Purchased lab equipment for the science departments in the day college and the research institute.
c. Installed solar power generating system. - Chennai Sarada Vidyalaya:
a. Renovated the working women’s hostel.
b. Added two floors to its Matriculation Higher Secondary School building. - Coimbatore Mission:
a. Built a diamond jubilee block at the College of Arts and Science.
b. Started a plasma processing laboratory at the College of Arts and Science.
c. Built an extension wing at the College of Arts and Science. - Deoghar Vidyapith brought out a documentary video on Students’ Vows (Vidyarthi Vrata mantras).
- Garbeta centre constructed a building for the English-medium primary school.
- Gol Park centre:
a. Introduced the Pali language course in its School of Languages.
b. Started coaching classes for BA (Hons) and MA in English. - Hatamuniguda centre:
a. Installed water purification systems in the hostel, dining hall and in the main school building.
b. Started vocational training in sewing machine operations for girls. - Jhargram centre set up 3 smart classrooms.
- Kamarpukur centre:
a. Upgraded the high school to high secondary school.
b. Constructed a building for his/her secondary section.
c. Constructed a building each for the Junior Basic School Unit-I and Unit-II. - Lumdung centre:
a. Developed the secondary school campus on a hilltop. The campus has an academic block, a laboratory-cum-activity block, administrative block and a girls’ block.
b. The centre started functioning from the new campus.
c. Installed statues of Swami Vivekananda and Mother Saraswati. - Malliankaranai centre started the higher secondary section.
- Nabadwip centre started a Vivekananda Abhyudaya Prakalpa unit.
- Narendrapur centre:
a. Started 2 early childhood education centres.
b. Started 4 vocational training units under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 (Skill Hub). - New Delhi centre opened an Institute of Languages and Culture.
- New Town (Viveka Tirtha):
a. Started the following courses: (i) Customer Care Executive-Domestic (Non-Voice), (ii) AI Machine Learning Engineer, and (iii) Digital Marketing Foundation.
b. Started a school of languages with courses in Sanskrit, English, Spanish, German, Japanese and French languages. - Puri Mission Ashrama constructed a three-storey building with rooms for computer training, staff and guests.
- Rahara centre started a coaching centre.
- Raiganj centre started two Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa units, one at the main centre and the other at the Chhatrapur sub-centre.
- Raipur centre started a study centre.
- Ramharipur centre:
a. Set up a smart classroom.
b. Built a stage.
c. Constructed the first floor of the hostel.
d. Introduced classes 1 & 2 in the junior basic school. - Ranchi Morabadi centre started a skill development training programme.
- RKMVERI university set up a lecture hall on its main campus.
- Rourkela centre started a computer training centre with 20 computers.
- Sahudangi centre built the first floor of the students’ hostel.
- Saradapitha centre renovated the ‘Bose House’ campus, the second campus of Vidyamandira college, located at Rishra in Hooghly district. Offline and online courses on music, drama and recitation were started there.
- Sarisha centre:
a. Started the higher secondary section in the girls’ school.
b. Renovated the higher secondary building of the girls’ school. - Seva Pratishthan centre: Vivekananda Institute of Medical Sciences introduced M Ch (Urology), a super speciality course.
- Tirupati centre built monks’ quarters.
- Varanasi Home of Service released 9 short Hindi films on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda.
- Villupuram centre constructed three new toilet blocks in the school.
- Viveknagar, Agartala, centre:
a. Renovated the laboratories, proctors’ chamber and teachers’ enclave.
b. Renovated the dining hall in the hostel.
c. Started an Intellectual Property Lab at the ITI.

(ii) Medical Field:
- Asansol centre added a fully automated electrolyte analyser to its dispensary.
- Bankura centre installed a PHACO machine.
- Belagavi centre built an OPD block at the eye clinic.
- Bilaspur centre started a dispensary with dental, eye and physiotherapy departments.
- Darjeeling centre set up an eye clinic.
- Dehradun centre built a building for its eye hospital.
- Guwahati centre added to its dispensary: (1) Vidas Kube Immunoassay Analyzer, (2) Life Sonic Plus Ultrasound Therapy Unit, and (3) Wax Bath Unit.
- Hatamuniguda centre added the following equipment: Slit lamp AIA-11 2 Step LED, Ophthalmic Equipment Stand – OES-01, Appa Applanation Tonometer – 5001, Indirect Ophthalmoscope AA 10 Wireless with 20D Volk, LCD Digital Visual Acuity Chart.
- Itanagar centre:
a. Added Olympus Endoscopy System, Dental chair with compression, Roche Electrolyte Analyser, Anaesthesia workstation, Servo-air Ventilator, Fowler Beds, Thompson Retractor, RVG with X-ray Gun, Suction Machine, blood gas analyser and Auto-kerato Refractor.
b. Installed a Liquid Medical Oxygen plant. - Jammu centre installed an ECG machine, Erba EM 200 Bio-chemistry analyser, Dental X-ray machine, and a dental chair.
- Jamshedpur centre acquired a new medical van.
- Jayrambati centre installed a fully automated biochemistry analyser and an ECG machine in its dispensary.
- Kamarpukur centre added medical lab equipment to its dispensary.
- Kankhal Sevashrama:
a. Added a blood transport box, Para Monitors, dialysis machine and ultrasound machine.
b. Installed an MRI machine. - Lucknow Sevashrama added Endobronchial Ultrasound, Body Box Text & DLCO Machines to its hospital.
- Malda centre started dental and eye department in the dispensary.
- Mumbai centre added the following medical equipment to its hospital: Section Multitouch Bed-RL T502, OT table with accessories, C-Arm (Cios-Fit), Drager Fabius plus 3 gas anaesthesia machine, Medtronic system with M5 Microdebrider, auto lensometer, Central Monitoring System, Cautery Machine, Slit lamp, Orthopaedic Drill Machine, Karl Storz telescope, Morcellator for Tissue Extraction, Flexible scope, Sonosite Touchscreen Ultrasound machine, Broncho Video Endoscope with Processor, Gastrointestinal Video scope, Thulium Laser and Ureteroscope.
- Narainpur centre built a dispensary building at the Kundla tribal development centre.
- Purulia centre installed a hematology analyser, Electrolyte analyser and digital X-ray with CR system.
- Raiganj centre started a dispensary at its Chhatrapur sub-centre.
- Ranchi TB Sanatorium:
a. Added an ICU ventilator, two OT tables, a dental chair, oxygen cylinder with stand, oxygen supply system for OT, suction machine, dental compressor and a patient transport vehicle.
b. Set up an eye OT. - Seva Pratishthan centre:
a. Added the following medical and other equipment: Siemens DRF Radiography System, USG Machines, Dialysis Machines, Laparoscopic Hardware Set and Washing Machine.
b. Set up a new 16-bed Medicine Ward for female patients, and two 4-bed rooms and four cabins with AC facilities in C-5 ward. - Somsar centre started a homeopathic dispensary at the Indas sub-centre.
- Swami Vivekananda’s Ancestral House & Cultural Centre added an ophthalmoscope, a dental X-ray machine, an auto refractometer, and a computer to its dispensary.
- Thiruvalla centre set up a mini surgical procedure room in its dispensary.
- Varanasi Home of Service centre:
a. Set up an HDU with dialysis facility.
b. Installed an RO plant, a lift and Oxygen pipeline system for the HDU.
c. Added the following medical equipment: BiPAP, ETCO2 Machine, portable X-ray, ICU beds, Multipara Monitors, Auto Keratometer, syringe infusion pumps, Bact/Alert-3D & hematology analyser, hemodialysis machine with dialyzer reprocessing, ceiling lamp adowless, laparoscopy camera, neurosurgical microscope, operation table and a vacuum steam sterilizer. - Vijayawada centre started a homeopathy dispensary.
- Viveknagar centre, Agartala, started an eye care unit and pathological laboratory in its dispensary.
- Vrindavan centre added the following medical equipment to its hospital: A PET-CT scan machine, 4 ventilators, a blood culture analyser, microdebrider, 2 servo-s-ventilators, a portable X-ray machine, dialysis machine, ambulance, 2 defibrillators, 62 syringe pumps, 2 ECG machines (A4 size), 5 humidifiers, USG machine, 27 bedside patient monitors, 2 patient monitoring systems, and central patient monitoring system.
(iii) Rural Development Field:
- Narainpur centre:
a. Constructed staff quarters at Akabeda campus.
b. Constructed compound walls at Kundla, Irakbhatti and Kachhapal campus.
c. Installed a smart display board at the school.
d. Built a football ground with synthetic astro turf and synthetic athletics running track.
e. Constructed a new building for the middle school at Kutul campus.
f. Built a 200-seat capacity boys’ hostel at Irakbhatti campus.
g. Built a nutritional rehabilitation centre at Kundla campus.
h. Built 2 medical rooms at the stadium.
i. Constructed a warehouse, two dining halls, a dormitory, two changing rooms at the stadium.
j. Built a poultry shed at Brehbeda village.
k. Renovated the old hostel building into VIP guest rooms for 60 persons.
l. Set up 7 borewells and handpumps at Irakbhatti, Kihkad, Kodkanar, Enmeta and Nirameta villages.
m. Built an indoor stadium. - Ranchi Morabadi centre laid the floor for the cow shed.
- Sikra Kulingram centre installed a water purifying system.
- Varanasi Home of Service started a computer literacy programme for girl students.
(iv) Other Developments:
- Aalo centre:
a. Built a boundary wall around 74 acres of land.
b. Built a central office building.
c. Built a bakery unit. - Bankura centre installed a statue of Swami Vivekananda at Kalpathar sub-centre.
- Baranagar centre opened a new bookstore.
- Bhubaneswar centre built a meeting room and a stack room.
- Chennai Vidyapith installed a solar power generating system and added various lab equipment.
- Coimbatore centre built Sri Ramakrishna Temple.
- Contai centre constructed a boundary wall on the western side of the ashrama.
- Davanagere centre constructed a compound and laid a concrete road on Doddabathi premises.
- Digboi centre:
a. Constructed boundary wall on the front side of the open land.
b. Built a public washroom. - Gurap centre built an extension to Sri Ramakrishna Temple.
- Headquarters built a Reception Centre.
- Jamshedpur centre constructed monks’ quarters.
- Jhargram centre:
a. Built an archway.
b. Implemented rainwater harvesting and artificial recharge to groundwater scheme. - Kailashahar centre built a building to house dispensary and to conduct welfare activities.
- Khetri centre brought out a short documentary film titled “Ajit-Vivek: Tale of a Monk and a King” exploring Swami Vivekananda’s relationship with Khetri.
- Mumbai centre built a guest house.
- Narendrapur centre built an extension to Sri Ramakrishna Temple.
- Narottam Nagar centre constructed two archways on its campus.
- New Dehi centre installed a four-dimensional animation show.
- New Town (Vivek Tirtha) centre built a service building.
- Raiganj centre constructed monks’ quarters.
- Ranchi TB Sanatorium:
a. Constructed a boundary wall near the staff quarters.
b. Built a water tank. - Sahudangi centre built a guest house and the first floor of students’ hostel.
- Shyamsayer centre, Bardhaman, built monks’ quarters.
- Somsar centre constructed a building for housing electrical panels and installed a new diesel generator set.
- Tirupati centre built monks’ quarters.
