Three-Day Celebration at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jalpaiguri
Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jalpaiguri organized a grand three-day celebration from 28 to 30 March 2025, which included a Youth Convention, Devotee Convention, and the Annual Celebration Day. Each day featured inspiring lectures, devotional music, cultural programs, and enthusiastic participation from students, devotees, and the general public.
Day 1: Youth Convention – 28 March 2025 (Friday)
The Youth Convention was held for students and youths aged 16 to 30. Events included Vedic chanting, guided meditation, lectures, patriotic songs, classical music, youth presentations, and an interactive session. Revered Swami Achyuteshanandaji Maharaj delivered a talk on “Right Use of Modern Gadgets,” Swami Tyagarupanandaji Maharaj spoke on “Success Mantra,” and Dr. Dattatreya L. Velankar shared insights on “Classical Music, Meditation and Swamiji.” A total of 527 participants — including 303 boys, 168 girls, 28 faculty members, and guests from 17 institutions and 8 study circles — took part. Cooked prasad was served to all.
In the evening session, students of Sarada Shishu Tirtha, Bazarapara performed cultural programs. Talks on Swami Vivekananda and Holy Mother were given by the revered monks, followed by devotional songs by Dr. Dattatreya L. Velankar. About 2000 people attended.
Day 2: Devotee Convention – 29 March 2025 (Saturday)
Held in the presence of Revered Jyotirupanandaji Maharaj, the Devotee Convention welcomed participants aged 12 and above. The program featured Vedic chanting, Gita path, meditation, devotional music, and lectures. Swami Achyuteshanandaji Maharaj spoke on “Relevance of Thakur, Mother and Swamiji in Daily Life,” while Swami Tyagarupanandaji Maharaj spoke on “Ways to Attain Peace in Human Life.” Dr. Velankar presented a Giti Alekhya on the Shorashi Puja of Sri Sarada Devi. Devotional readings and bhajans were led by other monks. Among 370 participants, 339 were registered delegates. Prasad was served to all.
In the evening, the cultural segment included flute performances, songs, and talks by the revered monks. Dr. Velankar’s devotional music again uplifted the audience. About 2500 people joined.
Day 3: Annual Celebration – 30 March 2025 (Sunday)
The concluding day featured a full-day public celebration. Activities included Vedic chanting, Usha Kirtan (town procession), guided meditation, puja, yoga, devotional and folk music, band music by SSB Siliguri, sitar and flute recitals, Ramacharitmanas songs, silent plays, and cultural performances. Swami Vishwadharanandaji Maharaj delivered a lecture on the life and teachings of Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi. Devotional songs were presented by Swami Sevananda. Approximately 5500 people attended, and around 4000 received cooked prasad.
