On 15 August 2022, the National Flag was hoisted at 7:30 am at the Headquarters by Swami Bodhasarananda ji, in the presence of Srimat Swami Bhajanananda ji, monks, brahmacharins, students of Vivekananda Veda Vidyalaya, and staff members. After hoisting the flag, the National Anthem was sung, followed by the chanting of the Swadesh Mantra, and a patriotic song in Sanskrit (“Vande Bharata Mataram”).
In the afternoon, monks gathered in front of Sri Ramakrishna temple, where the students of Vivekananda Veda Vidyalaya chanted the Rashtra Sukta, patriotic song and the National Anthem.
In the evening the Belur Math campus — the temples of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Ma Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda, Swami Brahmananda, the Samadhi Pith, and the Headquarters, were illumined and decorated with lights. The Belur Math campus was crowded with visitors, who were happy to see the illumination around the temples, and the Nat Mandir was packed with devotees participating in the evening Aratrikam.
