Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: Chennai


Ramakrishna Math, Chennai conducted literary and cultural competitions for Schools:  Short film, Essay, Elocution, Yogasana and  Colleges: Short film, Painting, Elocution, and Essay.

Hundreds of students participated in the competitions from in and around Chennai. The concluding program was held in two sessions on 20 August 2022 at Ramakrishna Math, Chennai in the morning and Vivekananda Cultural Centre in the evening. The morning session included Youth Convention and a Prize distribution ceremony for school students. In the Morning session, Thyagi N. Devanathan (97 years old), an Indian Freedom Fighter who had participated in ‘The Quit India Movement in 1942, was jailed for six months in Bellary Alipur jail was honoured by our Math. Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj felicitated him with Garland, Shawl, Citation and other gifts. The evening session at VCC had talks by Monks and dignitaries followed by a prize distribution ceremony for college students.
