A Cherished Tradition Revived
Ramakrishna Mission Hospital School of Nursing, Itanagar, celebrated its 37th Capping Ceremony on Thursday, June 27, 2024. Due to the Covid pandemic, this annual event had been suspended since 2019. This ceremony marked a first-time experience for many, including the 2nd and 3rd year Nursing Students, making it a truly special occasion for all.
Highlights of the Ceremony
The ceremony’s main highlights included the capping of the 1st Year Nursing Students. This was followed by their symbolic lamp lighting and a recitation of vows in Sanskrit. Following the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor’s speeches, certificates of achievement and cash prizes were awarded to the top three ranking students for the Academic Year 2023-24. After refreshments were served, the nursing students presented a cultural program.
Inspiring Guests and Special Talk
The presence of Swami Satyeshananda Ji, Assistant General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, as the Chief Guest, was a great honor. His inspiring words of guidance resonated deeply with everyone present, particularly the staff and students of the School of Nursing.
Adding to the ceremony’s prestige was Smt. Shweta Nagarkoti, IAS, District Commissioner of Itanagar Capital Complex. Her presence as a Guest of Honor was a privilege for the ceremony. She was particularly touched by the ceremony’s solemnity, especially the chanting of sacred mantras and Sanskrit vows by the tribal girl students.
