Centenary Celebration and New Temple Consecration : Silchar, March 2025

Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Silchar, Assam

The Centenary Celebration of the Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Silchar, was successfully held from 15 to 20 March 2025. The program’s invocation on March 15, 2023, featured the arrival of Revered Vice President Maharaj, Srimat Swami Girishananda ji, followed by the inauguration of Swami Yogananda Sabhagriha and Maa Sarada Charitable Dispensary.

Most Revered President Maharaj, Srimat Swami Gautamananda ji, graced the occasion with his arrival on March 16, 2025, and on the same date, inaugurated a Lotus Fountain in front of the newly built temple. The temple consecration rituals began on March 17, 2025, under the guidance of Revered Asstt. General Secretary, Srimat Swami Tattwavidananda Ji Maharaj. A total of 140 monastic members blessed this occasion with their holy presence. The consecration of the newly built universal temple was performed by Most Revered Srimat Swami Gautamananda Ji Maharaj on March 18, 2025.

On March 18th, a public meeting was organized, which was presided over by Most Revered President Maharaj. The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, addressed the program as chief guest and announced that the state government would donate Rs. 4 crore for the temple and Rs. 5 crore for the charitable dispensary. During the same meeting, Most Revered President Maharaj released the Centenary Souvenir and a special postal envelope to mark the centenary of Silchar Ashrama, printed by the postal department.

During these six days, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Sri Jayantamalla Baruah, Sri Kaushik Rai, Sri Krishnendu Paul, Sri Rupesh Goala, State Ministers, Sri Parimal Suklabaidya, MP, Sri Dipayan Chakraborty, MLA, Silchar, Sri Mihir Kanti Shome, MLA, Udharbond, and other dignitaries visited the centre.

On March 19th and 20th, 2025, 160 devotees were initiated by Most Revered President Maharaj Srimat Swami Gautamananda Ji Maharaj.

During the six-day celebration, from March 15th to 20th, 2025, about 93,000 devotees partook of cooked prasad, and approximately 250,000 people visited the Ashrama.
