Centenary Celebrations of Holy Mother’s Temple in Jayrambati: April 2023


The historic Centenary in connection with the completion of 100 years of the Mother’s Temple in Sri Sri Matri Mandir, Jayrambati was celebrated with grandeur and pomp in a befitting manner.

A three-day-long programme was chalked out to make the celebration a grand success. Banners and posters were displayed to attract the surrounding localities from Bishnupur to Arambagh.

The programme took place in two of our campuses i.e., one in Sri Sri Matri Mandir and the other in Ramakrishna Mission Sarada Vidyapith campus. Colourful pandals were erected to accommodate the devotees, villagers, students, admirers, and learned people on both the campus which facilitated 50 thousand visitors during the 3 days programme. The entire campus of Sri Sri Matri Mandir, R.K.M. Sarada Vidyapith, R.K.M. Pallimangal, and R.K.M Charitable Dispensary was illuminated for three days.  Accomplished singers, drama actors, and musicians of different categories came forward and rendered their performances to the fullest satisfaction of the audience.

The programme started remembering Mother’s name on 22nd April 2023, the day before the Foundation Day. It started with evening Aratrikam in the Temple and continued through a dance programme of Odishi and a Giti Alekhya – ‘Balaka Gadadhara’ by blind students of R.K.M Ashrama, Narendrapur. The programme concluded with the distribution of night Prasadam. The programme on 23 April 2023 was started with Mangalarati, Vedic Chanting, Sanai badan etc.

Two processions were organized. The 1st procession of 200 motorbikers went to Kamarpukur Math. A car also went along carrying loads of fruits, flowers, sweets, incense sticks, clothes for making a devoted offering to Sri Sri Thakur. The enthusiastic youths were dressed in colourful dresses. The team offered their humble Pranams to Sri Sri Thakur, handed over the articles to Math Adhyaksha Maharaj and returned back via Kamarpukur Chati covering the path around the statue of Swamiji. The 2nd procession of 101 Dhakis, 101 Mridangas, and 6000 participations including school students and devotees who were dressed in fetties, aprons, caps, T-shirts marked with ‘Ma’ joined the procession and completed the Joyrambati Parikrama covering R.K.M Sarada Vidyapith, Shantinath Shiva temple and Mayer dighi. Our Swamis climbed on horses back and led the procession.  Around 12 thousand devotees took noon Prasadam. The attraction of the day was a rendering of Kirtan by the renowned Mansur Fakir of Lalan Fakir culture in the evening. After Aratrikam, following the age-old tradition since Holy Mother’s time a drama named ‘Mortye elo Matri Puja’ was staged by local actors. A large number of devotees took night Prasadam.

On 24 April 2023, under the big Pandal in R.K.M Sarada Vidyapith playground 15 thousand villagers, and the local public came to listen to the Talabadyam by Pandit Govinda Bose and his co-performers. The Baul songs by Baul Mansur Fakir touched every heart of the listeners in the evening. The programme on the School ground started with the school students performing the ‘Udbodhani Sangeet’ followed by a dance programme by school girls. The schoolboys made a choreography on the song ‘Veer Senapati Vivekananda’. Evening Prasadam was also distributed among all the members of the audience. The programme went on till 10:30 PM. Bhajan Samrat Padmashree Anup Jalota made rendered Bhajasn before the huge crowd on this field. After that, a renowned Chow-nach from Purulia was performed. At the end of the programme, a play of spectacular colourful fireworks took place and was enjoyed by all. Sumptuous food packets were arranged for devotees, volunteers, Police forces, Govt. officials and others. During these three days, the entire Joyrambati vibrated in the name of the Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi. Often times innumerable devotees sang ‘Jagat Janani Sarada Devi ki – Joy’.
