Commemorating 125th Anniversary of Ramakrishna Mission : Chandigarh


Commemoration of 125th Anniversary of Ramakrishna Mission and Annual Celebration 2023 was conducted at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Chandigarh on 31st March, 1st and 2nd April 2023. The Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator of U.T. Chandigarh, Sri Banwarilal Purohit ji participated as the Chief Guest on 2nd April 2023.

On Friday, 31st March, 2023, Public Meeting was held at the Assembly Hall to mark “Swami Vivekananda Day”. Speaker of the day Sri Ramphal Sharma spoke on Swami Vivekananda’s life and message while Chief Guest Dr. Prof. B. N. Goswamy spoke about how Swami Vivekananda influenced Indian minds and how he influenced world thinkers. Swami Narasimhananda gave the background in which Swamiji founded Ramakrishna Mission, which is celebrating its 125 glorious years of service to humanity.

On Saturday, 1st April 2023, Public Meeting was held to mark “Holy Mother Sri Sharada Devi Day ”. Speaker of the day Smt. Shanta Banerjee explained the life and teachings of the Holy Mother. Dr. Meenu Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS, Rishikesh said Holy Mother was considered Sangha Janani. She explained how she had imbibed the idea of “worship of God in man” and implementing it in her profession as a doctor. Swami Narasimhananda explained how straightforward and simple was Holy Mother in her words and decision and protected the Ramakrishna Mission through her support and guidance. He said she was truly the Sangha Janani.

On Sunday, 2nd April, Public Meeting was held to mark “Sri Ramakrishna Day”. Speaker of the day Sri Piyush Punj said that Sri Ramakrishna was not just a Mahatma but he was an incarnation of God and God Himself. Swami Narasimhananda spoke on how Sri Ramakrishna never deviated from the path of truth and how it was Sri Ramakrishna who initiated the establishment of Ramakrishna Mission which Swami Vivekananda later formally founded on 1st May, 1897. The Chief Guest of the Celebrations, Sri Banwarilal Purohit ji, Hon Governor of Punjab, paid rich tributes to Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Maa Sarada and Swamiji and explained how the Order is based on Sanatana Dharma and how it is influencing different facets of human life. He remembered his association with Nagpur Math and his visits to different Centres of Ramakrishna Mission in Chennai and in the states of Assam, Meghalaya and other North Eastern states. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Sri R. K. Sabooji, President of the Managing Committee and National Anthem.
