Community Supports for TB Patients: Guwahati, August 2024

Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati, Assam


Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati and the Morigaon District Administration joined forces on August 27, 2024, to launch a comprehensive initiative to combat tuberculosis (TB) in the region. As part of the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (PMTBMBA), the Ashrama will provide nutritional support to 300 TB patients in Morigaon district for six months.

The inaugural ceremony for the food basket distribution program took place at the Police Reserve, Drill Shed, Morigaon. Several dignitaries, including the District Commissioner, Additional District Commissioner, WHO Consultant, NTEP, and representatives from the Tiwa Autonomous Council, were present to witness the launch.

During the event, the District Commissioner praised the Ramakrishna Mission’s humanitarian efforts, while Swami Atmashuddhananda highlighted the mission’s commitment to social welfare, including healthcare. The food baskets distributed contained essential nutrients to aid in TB recovery.

The Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama was recognized for its contribution to the fight against TB with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the District Programme Officer (NTEP).

This collaborative effort between the Ramakrishna Mission and the Morigaon District Administration demonstrates a strong commitment to improving the health and well-being of the community and aligns with the broader goal of eradicating TB in India.
