Competitions for School Students, Rajahmundry


In connection with the 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Sister Nivedita, our Rajamahendravaram Ashrama conducted Competitions for School Students from class 1 to 10  in Essay writing, Elocution, Recitation Drawing, Songs and Quiz. The central theme of the competitions was  Life and Teachings of Swami Vivekananda. The Preliminary round of the competitions were conducted in their  respective schools. In the singing competition the students composed a song on  Swami Vivekananda, set it to tune and rendered it in the competition. Alternately they could sing one from three songs whose lyrics were given.

5362 students from 43 schools participated in the preliminary round of the competitions which were conducted in the respective schools. One candidate per event from each school was  selected to participate in the finals  conducted in the Math premises on December 6, 2017. 342 students participated in this final round. The prizes were distributed in a function held on the same day at  4.30 pm.

The programme commenced with the students of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa  and Vivekananda Abhyudaya Prakalpa rendering  Vedic chanting and prayer  songs. Swami Kapalisananda, Adhyaksha, welcomed the gathering and distributed the prizes. Swami Harikripananda addressed the audience and spoke about the teachings of Swami Vivekananda followed by performance of prize winners.

Prizes in the form of cash, certificates and books were given to students of all groups. All the participating students were given a copy of the the telugu version of the  book  “Vivekananda His Call to the Nation” and a participation certificate. Every teacher who motivated more than 50 students to participate was given a  memento and books worth of Rs.200. Each participating school was given  a lamination of Swamiji’s picture with his quotations and three books on the lives of Sri Ramakrishna,Holy Mother and Swamiji for their library. All the students who participated in the final competition at the Math, got Swamiji’s book on Personality Development.
