Conference on Ramakrishna Mission and Health Care services: Hyderabad, July 2023


To commemorate the 125th anniversary Ramakrishna Mission, Ramakrishna Math Hyderabad organized a National Level Conference on the ‘Role of Ramakrishna Mission in Health Care in Rising New India, on 1st July, 2023

The conference started with Vedic chanting and bhajans by the inmates of the Math.

Swami Bodhamayananda welcomed the dignitaries and explained the health care activities of Ramakrishna Math in various states and places i.e.  Khankal, Varanasi, Vrindavan, Seva Prathistan and other places which was Swami Vivekananda’s vision of serving the poor. 

The special pre-recorded video message by Srimat Swami Suviranandaji, General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Belur Math was broadcasted to the audience and guests. The General Secretary in his message stressed that, if the doctor profession is practised on Dharma the nation will transform into a healthy nation.  Later a video on Ramakrishna Health centres and their services was briefly displayed.

Dr. Balasubramanyam from Banglore who is associated with the Health Ministry, Government of India, very elaborately explained the Central Government activities and the present and future plans for making India self-reliant in the health sector

In the second session, the topic on Building Medical Institutions with values in the country, Swami Satyeshananda ji mj, Asst., General Secretary, RK Math, Swami Kripakarananda ji mj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, Dr Prashant Garg, Director, LV Prasad Eye Institute, Sri Ravender Rao, Founder of Yashoda Group of Hospitals in Hyderabad and Dr. Krishna Mohan, Executive Director, Bharat Biotech spoke on various factors of the subject given, which raised the level of thinking of the doctors, medical students in particular and the devotees in general.

Later in the panel discussion Dr. Santosh, National Medical Council, Hyderabad introduced the doctors, and placed appropriate questions to the panel discussion participants, in that discussion Dr. Balasubramanyam explained the vision of Central Government with certain principles which are going to bring a revolutionary change in the health care system in the country in view of Swami Vivekananda’s broad vision of 1500 years of amrutakal in which Holistic Health Care and Universal Health care be achieved. In Ayushman Bharat, from womb to tomb, 90 per cent of health problems of the largely populated country shall be solved. 

Swami Dayadhipananda ji mj while speaking how the RK mission catering the medical & health needs of various people without discrimination with the concept of love on one’s own profession and commitment to service.

Later Dr Surender Reddy, Arogya Bharathi, Hyderabad who is inspirational to aspiring doctors, explained the community service in not only cities but mainly in rural areas.

In the post-lunch session Dr. Ravindra Khole and Dr. Smitha Khole, Melghat, Maharashtra, who are called 1/-Rupee doctors, who are role models for younger generations shared their experiences hour-long in a witting manner with serious messages to the listeners. They spoke personal, economic, professional, and community hazards they faced during the 40 years selfless service for the upliftment of the tribals in all aspects of their lives that is in agriculture, education, economic conditions, social traditions, and in health care. 

About 800 delegates comprising medical college students, doctors from many hospitals, NGOs, devotees and youth participated in the conference.  Swamiji’s book ‘Call to the Nation’ a participation certificate was distributed to all delegates.
