The Batticaloa sub-centre of Colombo Ashrama distributed dry ration kits to 25 members of deaf and dumb association due to the outbreak of COVID-19 Pandemic. In total 125 kgs of Rice, 75 kgs of Flour, 25 kgs of Sugar and 25kgs of Dal were distributed on 14 May 2020.
The Colombo centre has distributed 3113 kgs of Rice, 592 kgs of Dal, 1056 kgs of Flour, 695 kgs of Sugar, 125 kgs of Soya Nuggets, 66 kgs of Malt Powder, 6 kgs of Milk Powder, 20 kgs of Salt, 158 Packets of Biscuits, 21 kgs of Chilli Powder, 472 Nos of Coconuts, 337 kgs of Potatoes, 395 kgs of Onions, 224 kgs of Noodles, 250 Packets of Tea Powder, 10 Packets of Detergent Powder, 611 Nos of Soap, 10 packets of Sanitary Papers to 795 families belonging to 9 villages from 2 April to 25 April 2020.
Ramakrishna Mission, Batticaloa, sub-centre of Colombo Ashrama, distributed dry ration kits to 2243 affected families which comprised the poor, the visually-challenged and the Municipal Council workers due to the outbreak of COVID-19 Pandemic, followed by the curfew.
In total 10,490 kgs of Rice, 4320 kgs of Flour, 1867 kgs of Sugar, 992 kgs of Potatos,
992 kgs of Onion, 1866 kgs of Salt, 592 kgs of Soya Beans and 127 kgs of Chickpea were distributed from 11 April to 25 April 2020.
All of them except the visually challenged were also given the back issues of Sri Ramakrishna Vijayam, the Tamil magazine of our order, to spend their time usefully in reading our literature.
In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent imposition of curfew, the poor and daily labourers were affected in Sri Lanka.
Ramakrishna Mission, Colombo, has delivered food items among 161 families in 4 remote villages from March 27 to March 31. These villages are situated nearly 250 km away from Colombo and the work was done with the help of local volunteers and well-wishers.
The ashrama distributed rice, dal, flour, sugar, soya nuggets, malt powder, milk powder, salt, biscuits, chilli powder, potatoes, noodles and onions, among the 161 families.
Ramakrishna Mission, Batticaloa (sub-centre of Colombo Ashrama), distributed food items (rice, dal, potato, onion, salt, sugar, soya beans and chilli powder) to 220 affected families in remote rural areas on 30th March 2020. The operation was done during non-curfew hours.
